PA Life readers reveal how safe their work fridge is

How comfortable are you with leaving food unguarded in your work fridge? AppliancesDirect has revealed how often the average Brit checks fridges and cupboards during their day when on the hunt for a nibble to fill the hours between meals. With British workers searching the fridge up to eight times a day and other cupboards around five times a day, not everyone is sure their food will be safe if left unsupervised.

With a neck-and-neck result, one third of PA Life readers admitted that they’d rather keep their lunch on their desk, in a drawer or in their bag to stop lunch thieves. The most attractive snacks to the British workforce are sandwich foods like cheese and cold meats, which make up more than two thirds of the top five most stolen snacks in the country. Despite this, another third of PA Life readers believe their food is safe and sound in the fridge, where it belongs.

On top of this, a further quarter agrees that your lunch should be kept in work storage spaces, but only if its labelled to avoid any accidental mix-ups. Meanwhile, almost one in 10 of you would avoid bringing food into the office altogether; instead preferring to eat out at lunch, safe in the knowledge that their lunch won’t be snatched by sneaky snackers.
