Experts have created a potentially life-saving desk yoga workout video to combat the ‘killer’ lifestyle of Britain’s office workers.

Sometimes workplace friction is unavoidable, nobody works harmoniously with everyone all the time. However, when the tension builds between you and your executive, it’s normally up to you to make the peace and preserve a pleasant working relationship. Looking to maximise your happiness and stability in a long term career, PA Life editor Molly Dyson sat down with a panel of Executive Assistants at the office* show to discuss how to strengthen your relationship with your boss and work more effectively.

3. London becoming more cost effective despite Brexit
Central London has dropped to the third most expensive business travel destination according to a study by data specialists ECA International. Falling from second place last year, it has come as a surprise to experts expecting London to become a less favourable destination following last year’s EU referendum. The results show that the capital city was only just pricier than Paris, with London nearly dropping two places within the last year.

6. Young people lack basic life skills, bosses say
Employers are concerned that many are entering the working world without the developed life skills necessary for the job, according to a new study. Nearly half surveyed by charity Central YMCA admitted they believe they need to teach basic work skills to a young recruit before they’re comfortable trusting them as a good employee. Believing many young people are left underprepared by the time they reach work, bosses feel more time should be invested in schools to teach children ‘soft skills’ that will benefit them in life.

7. Working from home is young workers’ top priority
An investigation into working habits has revealed what encourages employee retention in younger workers. The study by ReportLinker showed that 66% of older workers strongly agreed that they were highly committed to their place of work, compared to only 40% of Millennials who somewhat agreed as statistics showed the increased likelihood of 25-34 year olds to switch employers within five years of employment.

8. Charity calling for PAs to encourage colleagues to be inspired
Sporting charity Legacy 300 is setting its sights on the corporate world as it encourages workers to get out of the office and train with Team GB Olympians. Having raised over £367,000 since the London 2012 Olympics, the charity is looking to PAs to inspire internally, by running staff and client fundraising events with Olympic stars.

9. Business travel app to simplify booking process
A new tool by travel management company (TMC) Review Travel has been launched to streamline the booking process for business travel. The online, self-booking app, OrBiT, is hoping to manage business travel from the ‘doorstep to destination’ as it integrates additional costs such as car hire and Heathrow Express tickets.

10. Brits spend 120 hours a year on smartphones at work
The average British worker spends as many as 120 hours per year using their smartphones in the workplace, according to new research.
