Restaurant Review: The Landmark Hotel’s Champagne Bar

PA Life’s feature writer checked out the The Landmark Hotel for an evening of sushi and champagne. An Instagrammer’s dream location, The Landmark Hotel is situated in the heart of London’s Marylebone and its vast Palm Court serves as a lounge area as well as an elegant setting for lunches, teas and dining. The unique space has a magnificently high ceiling, tall enough to house soaring palm trees…

We checked out their Champagne bar, that is tucked away under a botanic horizon. This champagne infused bar is perfect for an elegant occasion, serving up caviar tastings, light bites and echoes of live piano playing in the background. A perfect spot for when you need an elegant place for an occasion. We conveniently visited on a Saturday night and joined other guests for a glass of champagne.

We tried out their Sushi and Champagne offering, that was enhanced by the dรฉcor of this stunning champagne bar that had been transformed into an Asian indoor oasis. The Japanese Garden is a tranquil backdrop for a memorable lunch, light evening meal, or an Instagram-worthy moment.

Our meal

We had a selection of sushi, nigiri and sashimi perfectly paired with Tattinger champagne. The chefs prepared a bespoke nine-piece menu featuring crab and avocado rolls with wasabi mayo, yellowfin tuna nigiri and salmon sashimi topped with tobiko roe. The nigiri melted in the mouth with ease, and this paired with champagne made this feel so luxurious.

The Champagne Bar

The drinks list features a standout Japanese Keigetsu โ€˜Johnโ€™ sparkling sake alongside a range of
champagnes โ€“ from the renowned grand dame houses to boutique grower labels โ€“ as well as English sparkling wines, many of which are available by the glass. Adding to the sparkle, a curated list of cocktails include the Champagne Bar Fizz, blending Ketel One Vodka with Champagne and blood orange rosemary cordial, and the classic French 75, made with Bombay Sapphire dry gin, fresh lemon juice, and sugar syrup, topped with Palmer & Co NV Brut Champagne.

If you are in the mood for an evening of sushi and champagne, like we did, The Champagne Bar is the perfect destination.

Other options include cocktails in the Mirror Bar or afternoon teaย on the Garden Terrace (open until 6pm).

Event spaces

Beautiful banqueting suites and majestic ballrooms have made the hotel a coveted venue for impressive events, spectacular gatherings and breath-taking weddings up to 650 people. The Landmark London is the perfect venue with its 11 meeting and event spaces over 22,000 square feet (2,100 square metres).
