If you’re looking for an adrenaline-fuelled experience, step into Clays and take a shot at six thrilling interactive games including clay shooting. It’s the perfect way to bring fun, competition, and socialising to any team-building session or large corporate group. Clays has locations in Birmingham, Soho, The City of London, and Canary Wharf…
PA Life interviewed Amber Holgate, Head of Business Development at Clays. Amber focuses on understanding our clientsโ goals and creating bespoke experiences for corporate and private events. I love introducing Clays to people outside the traditional clay shooting world, making the experience accessible, fun, and social for everyone. My aim is to combine food, drinks, gameplay, and a little friendly competition to create memorable moments.
Using unique proprietary technology, Clays emulates the classic British sport of clay target shooting in game form, ensuring maximum precision down to the sub-millimetre and delivering a digital experience that brings a slice of the British countryside to the city. Combined with mouth-watering dishes and signature crafted cocktails, it makes for an unforgettable experience. Clays can accommodate groups of any size – from intimate bookings to full venue exclusives take overs – making it the ultimate blend of fun, team engagement, and celebration.
Can you tell us more about your seasonal events and upcoming opportunities for group bookings?
At Clays, we bring clay shooting to life through a dynamic calendar of seasonal experiences. From our weekend Bottoms Up brunch to high-energy Night Play sessions with DJs and gameplay in night mode, thereโs always something new to discover beyond the core game.
For group bookings we go the extra mile, especially at Christmas, with entertainment, festive dรฉcor, and a truly celebratory atmosphere. We also like to say thank you to our clients. Both new clients and repeat visitors can enjoy additional extras. Whether thatโs bonus game rounds, complimentary drinks, or small bespoke touches tailored to the group. Itโs our way of making every booking feel special!
Why do you think Clays is good for inclusive team building?
Clays is designed to be highly inclusive because the virtual clay target games are easy to learn and fun for everyone, from first-timers to experienced players. The focus is on shared competition (not athletic skill) which levels the playing field and encourages everyone to take part!
Additionally, team building here isnโt forced: people naturally interact through gameplay, drinks, and food, creating moments of camaraderie, and shared achievement. Itโs a social, accessible, and memorable way for teams to bond outside the office.
What are your most popular activities?
Our six virtual clay target shooting games are the core experience and undoubtedly the most popular. Guests take part in multiple interactive games across 4K screens in semi-private pegs or in the shared Clays Arcade space, which is great for more spontaneous socials.
Alongside the gameplay, weekend experiences like Night Play and Bottoms Up brunches are especially popular for groups looking for something energetic and unique.
Which signature cocktail do you most associate with Clays, and why?
Clays is known for our clarified cocktails, which are crafted using a special technique to produce crystal-clear, smooth, flavourful drinks.
One of the signature drinks I most associate with Clays is the Ruby. Itโs a beautifully balanced, floral cocktail made with vodka, raspberry purรฉe, rose liqueur, and finished with orange blossom raspberry soda. Itโs refreshing, aromatic, and a personal favourite!
Clays caters to corporate groups and private eventsโhow do you tailor experiences for those bookings?
For corporate bookings, at Clays, we always put the client first. We focus on their needs and have the flexibility to create a bespoke experience tailored to their requirements, as well as our pre-set experiences. This can include structured gameplay time, premium flowing drinks (including cocktails!) and curated food menus.
In addition to our traditional Shooting Pegs & Arcade, we also offer exclusive hire options. Whether this is sections of the venue or even the entire venue, can be booked for larger events. These can include tailored elements such as branding opportunities, dedicated hosts, and team-based challenges to align with the clientโs objectives, whether thatโs team bonding, client entertainment, or celebration.
In addition, we can facilitate meetings in our private rooms, which are ideal for presentations, workshops, or smaller team sessions before an activity-led social.
And for more intimate,ย private events, both Clays City and Soho offer The Hide – a beautifully designed, separate space perfect for smaller celebrations, VIP gatherings, or premium group experiences. It’s a flexible, atmospheric setting that complements the main venue while offering guests something a little more exclusive.
