Checking In: the historic De Vere Wokefield Estate

PA Life checked into the historic De Vere Wokefield Estate, located in 250-acres of Berkshire parkland, and dating back to the 16th century. Today, the estate also includes a contemporary conference centre hosting corporate events, conferences, team-building programmes as well as beautiful accommodation and even an 18-hole championship golf course…

It was easy and quick for us to travel to De Vere Wokefield Estate, we simply hopped on the direct Elizabeth Line connection from London Paddington to Reading. It’s also close to Heathrow and to excellent rail connections making it easily accessible for both national and international delegates.

What are the event spaces like at De De Wokefield Estate

We started our tour of this vast venue and estate at the Wokefield Place, the dedicated conference centre. There are a large number, no less than 30 in fact, flexible meeting and event spaces to choose from. These flexible space are capable of hosting anything from small meetings of 10 delegates to large conferences and gala dinners for up to 400 guests.

The historic Mansion House is the a fantastic attraction to organising your event at Wokefield. It’s simply stunning and feels palatial, offerings several distinctive event spaces rich in original features. These include the Lincoln Suite, a beautifully restored former chapel. The Old Lounge is complete with its original fireplace and ideal for informal gatherings. And the Mortimer grants you views across the landscaped gardens. The estate’s largest evet space is the Terrace Suite, which features an extensive balcony overlooking the grounds and lake and provides an impressive backdrop for conferences and banquets.

There are also additional breakout spaces such as The Avenue and The Pantry. These are relaxed environments for networking and exhibitions, and come with superfast Wi-Fi. You won’t be cut off line anywhere as the Wi fi works brilliantly throughout the estate, including outdoor areas up to 100 metres from the hotel.

It’s also important to note that you would be supported by a dedicated event planner who assists with planning and coordination at every stage.

De Vere Wokefield Estate grounds are perfect for team-building activities

The estateโ€™s extensive grounds also make it well suited for team-building retreats and corporate away days. The venue works in partnership with event specialists Grahame Robb Associates. Their expert team can arrange a wide range of activities to suit any ability and different interests. The activities offer something new too and include woodland laser combat, archery, zorbing and high ropes courses.

The grounds also feature an 18-hole championship golf course designed to US PGA standards. If the weather isn’t playing ball then you can take you team to the all-weather driving range, offering additional opportunities for networking and leisure during events.

Stay in the stylish Mansion House rooms

Guests can stay in stylish accommodation in the Mansion House, ideal for multi-day conferences and residential events. The rooms have been styled appeal to the modern guest, without loosing the charm of the historic building. Wonderful bathrooms with walk in showers too.

You will be well catered for during your stay. There are two restaurants providing flexible dining throughout your stay. The View Restaurant serves British dishes with an Italian influence, while the 1560 Lounge & Bar serves breakfast and afternoon tea.

Delegates can also take advantage of leisure facilities including a newly refurbished gym equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment.
