15 of PA Life Club’s EA and PA members gathered on a hot July afternoon for a roof terrace lunch experience at PocketSquare Skyline Rooftop Bar & Terrace at Hyatt Place London City East. Our editor joined the group, and shares the highlights of the event here…
Hyatt Place London City East is located just moments from Old Street station and it was easy to spot the terrace oasis high above the street. I headed straight to the rooftop bar to meet Gisella Fiorani, Director of Sales and the event team, plus the PA Life Club member guests, and to order my first cocktail from the inviting cocktail and non-alcoholic drinks menu.
Moments later the first of the many beautifully presented canapes appeared – the fantastic platters just kept coming and they didn’t stop the whole afternoon, neither did the lavish cocktails and mocktails. The food and drink were beautifully presented and all the flavours were simply fantastic. Huge thanks and congratulations are due for the in-house kitchen and serving team who really looked after us superbly.
A great space to gather: PocketSquare Skyline Bar at Hyatt Place London City East
The rooftop bar is a fantastic space for drinks receptions and events. And when the weather chances and the inevitable rains arrive, the indoor area provides a great choice too, comfortably accommodating up to 80 guests.
Located on the 9th floor, the rooftop provides fantastic panoramic views across the City, creating a distinctive setting for both social and corporate events. The interior is contemporary and influenced by the area’s creative scene, with flower walls and plants chelping to create a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed their exceptional service throughout the event – top hospitality is an important part of the experience when you host at PocketSquare.
Hyatt Place London City East opened in 2021 after a successfully completed transformation of a former office building into a contemporary lifestyle hotel with a vibrant hospitality space in the heart of East London. The original building was retained and redesigned, reflecting a more sustainable approach through adaptive reuse and a reduced reliance on new construction.
Event spaces that impress with fresh design and plenty of natural light
We were impressed with the rest of the hotel’s event spaces too. The Canvas Suite on the ground floor lets in plenty of natural light, and its flexible layout choices make it easy to organise in theatre, cabaret, classroom or boardroom style. The suite can also be divided into two more intimate spaces, The Atelier and The Studio, giving organisers plenty of flexibility.
The third event space, The Orangerie, is a private dining area seating up to 20 guests. It works well for meetings too and sits next to the Sotto Cusina restaurant, a welcoming Italian eatery which serves breakfast as well fro the hotel guests.
Contemporary rooms and suites to match the great event spaces
The hotel has the capacity to accommodate up to 291 guests in its bedrooms and the spacious top floor suites which offer unbeatable views over the the City of London and further. Some of the suites even come with private balconies. There’s a room to suit every need, whether your team are in London for a short or a longer stay.
The hotel is a great option to add in every EA’s and PA’s list, especially when you are organising residential conferences or corporate away days.
