The moment you walk through the Castle’s doors, be transported to the 1930s as you discover the rescue and restoration of the Castle, and its transformation into complete interiors styled by Lady Baillie and her collaborators, including top French designers Armand-Albert Rateau to Stéphane Boudin.

Lady Baillie created a private playground for the rich and famous, entertaining the likes of David Niven, Errol Flynn, Chips Channon, a young John F. Kennedy, the Prince of Wales and Wallis Simpson, Noel Coward, and even Ian Fleming to name a few. Her guests experienced the finest hospitality and were offered countless leisure activities including golf, tennis, squash in the Castle’s own court (now the Dog Collar Museum), croquet and boating on the moat.

This unique venue has all the modern amenities needed for high-scale meetings, fine-dining and events; all within an impressive setting. Guests can book the entire Castle Island, with flexible use of the Maiden’s Tower, Castle State rooms, drawing rooms, boardroom, dining room, salon and luxury four-poster bedrooms. For more intimate retreats, the Castle has also recently restored and opened a 14th century manor house on the edge of the estate. This property, named Battel Hall, offers equally beautiful break-out rooms, an oak-panelled dining room, individually designed bedrooms and lush private gardens for summer soirees.
