Our fantastic FAM Trip to 10 Union Street – a stunning new London venue

PA Life Club members enjoyed a wonderful evening on February 7th on their FAM Trip to 10 Union Street,ย  hosted by Graysonsย  – the hospitality partners of the venue.

20 of our members arrived for a 5pm start, ready to experience what this recently refurbished venue just minutes from London Bridge station has to offer to meetings and events hosts. We were welcomed at the impressive atrium, at the entrance of the building, and houses a striking, white spiral staircase – Guggenheim Museum springs to mind. The atrium makes a stunning backdrop for drinks receptions, dinners and special occasions.

PA Life Club FAM Trip to 10 Union Street got under way with oysters

Upon arrival, we found bubbly and fresh Oysters in ice waiting for us. That was a specially nice welcome, but all in a day’s work for the Graysons team, who are known for their superb hospitality and catering. After the introductions and a short welcome address by Nicoletta Sorrentino, Events Manager at 10 Union Street and Katya Nunziati, Group Business Development Manager, it was time to see the venue. 10 Union Street has been the new permanent home of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since 2019.

We started our tour by exploring the historic exhibits of this medical field, many dating back hundreds of years. There are many rare treasures in the museum, especially the old books and notebooks – one with notes written by Florence Nightingale no less. It was a really interesting way to get the feel of the building and to connect the event spaces to the work that takes place behind the meeting rooms. The revenue from the venue hire supports the work of the college.

The new recording studio for hire

We continued our tour by first visiting the new recording studio space in the lower ground floor. The studio is available for hire at a very competitive rate of ยฃ750 per day and is perfect for both filming and audio recording.

The meeting and event spaces at 10 Union Street

There are 13 unique spaces set across three floors, all connected by the beautiful spiral staircase and also fully accessible by lift. Many of the spaces house windows on two or more walls, letting plenty of natural daylight in. And in the evenings, the light from the atrium side windows creates a lovely atmosphere. All the rooms come with state-of-the-art AV that’s included in the venue hire rate. This is a great help as you know your AV requirements are looked after without you needing to budget separately for it in your event package.

The Main Hall conference space

We finished our tour at the Main Hall on the third floor 3- the largest event space in the building – which was originally built as a hop warehouse dating back to 1853. The large space still boasts the original high industrial style ceilings, large windows and a sky light and as such has plenty of natural daylight. We all raced to take a peek of the views of the Shard that can be seen through the skylight. It adds a special touch and a talking point to your to your conference, dinner or drinks reception.

The Main Hall is a versatile space with flexible staging and can accommodate conferences for up to 280. It is often used for exhibitions, exams, team building events and screenings as well as evening entertaining.ย  Dinners can be be catered for up to 240 without staging or 192 with a stage.

The adjoining foyer area is included in the hire of this room and adds an ideal separate space for registration, catering and pre-dinner drinks receptions.

Meeting the rest of the management team

We were greeted by Gosha Grzesica, General Manager of 10 Union Street, with a very interesting talk about the history of the building and the Man Hall in particular. Gosha also told us about the philosophy of Graysons when it comes to catering and sourcing ingredients and constantly innovating by creating new exciting dishes to suit the versatile demands and preferences of audiences. The amazing food scene by the venue, Borough Market, is a great inspiration to the chefs and their kitchen teams who create truly innovative menus that combine flavour and style. The chefs love to create and are also able to put together bespoke menus. So if you are looking for something unique, please get in touch to discuss your requirements with the Graysons team who will be more than happy to accommodate your ideas.

Gosha explained how their food ethos is based in a simple principle of using the best and freshest ingredients available, sourced by local suppliers. Their chefs, such as the 10 Union Street Head Chef Jason Bunting, are empowered to create their own menus and dishes, often drawing inspiration from around the globe.

It was a pleasure to meet Jason and some of his team, and we enjoyed learning of each dish as Jason introduced the delicious bowl food options to us. At the end of the evening we were also treated to a lovely dessert station in a shape of a honeycomb which is a reference to the bee colony housed on the roof of the building. We all even got a jar of the special honey, and a bar of soap made with honey to take home in our goodie bags. Thank you for a very nice evening!
