Our Editor was delighted to spend tea time at InterContinental London Park Lane savouring the most delicious Royal Afternoon Tea. It was a chance to sip and savour a piece of royal history at what was the former childhood residence of Queen Elizabeth II..
The new Elizabethan Royal Tea is served throughout the spring at The Wellington Lounge of this luxury central London hotel. My fellow afternoon tea lovers on the Saturday afternoon were made largely of international visitors, but I can easily envisage executives taking tea over a relaxed afternoon meeting. The intimate Wellington Lounge with near armchair comfort dining chairs is a perfect spot for meeting up friends too.
Royal Afternoon Tea at InterContinental London Park Lane
The afternoon tea offers a taste of British royal culture and is inspired by the legacies of the late Queen Elizabeth I and II, whose shared love for decadent teas and confections shaped the tradition of afternoon tea. Paired with a bespoke tea menu from heritage brand, The East India Company, the afternoon tea encapsulates the finest of British produce, with elements of the experience provided and created by Royal Warrant holders.
Take a seat in the opulent surroundings of The Wellington Lounge for an afternoon of beautifully hand-crafted savoury finger sandwiches, pristine pastries, delicate cakes and homemade scones, all served on
beautiful new Wedgewood English bone china. From the โRoyal Warrantโ Salmon & Caviar Bliss and
Monarchโs Coronation Chicken Royale, inspired by Elizabeth IIโs famous 1953 coronation dish, to the
Elizabeth I Syllabub, a pastry royally adorned with a sable as a nod to the Virgin Queenโs love of these sweet confections, this symbolic spread celebrates the reigns of these two majestic monarchs.
Hand-selected by Tea Master, Lalith Lenadora, the new tea menu features over 20 infusions from across the globe, including three exclusively curated blends, such as the Elizabeth II, crafted with rooibos from South Africa, vanilla from Sri Lanka and delicate rose petals as an ode to the Commonwealth.
For a true royal treat, pair your afternoon tea with a glass of champagne, from Royal Warrant holder Veuve Clicquot, or The Queenโs Cocktail โ Queen Elizabeth IIโs favourite blend of gin and dubonnet. Provided by Royal Warrant holder Charbonnel et Walker, guests are ensured a sweet end to the tea with a chocolate takeaway treat.
Priced at ยฃ74 per person, or ยฃ86 per person with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label Champagne
NV, the Elizabethan Royal Tea will be available daily between 1pm โ 5pm.
