Eatfruit, is an office fruit delivery business which started in 2019, just before the entire world was turned upside down with the pandemic. You might be thinking, โPerfect timing to launch an office fruit and grocery service, right?โ. Obviously, our team was very aware that the timing and global circumstances couldnโt have been more against us, however, looking back now, the very challenges that came along with navigating a rapidly changing world are what make our journey all the more special and perhaps our business that little bit stronger…
Our first deliveries began in July 2019, but by March 2020, after a promising start, global lockdowns and business closures threw us – along with the rest of the world – into complete turmoil. Within 48 hours, we lost 85% of our deliveries and very quickly we were beginning to lose hope.
However with just ยฃ64.26 in our account and having re-mortgaged our homes to start the business, we made the decision to keep pushing for our dream to still become a reality. Thanks to the constant hard work of our amazing team and the incredible support of a few key customers – who, without being asked, paid upfront for a yearโs worth of office fruit deliveries – and a small NHS order – we made it through those tough times. Their generosity and support provided not only financial relief but also a much-needed boost of hope.
We know we were not the hardest hit and for others it was much worse. However, this unpredictable and difficult situation, faced by the entire world, taught us a valuable lesson: if you truly want something to succeed, you have to give it everything youโve got – and we did – and more… We continued to carry this mind-set with us for the past 6 years of operations, allowing us to grow even stronger as a business. Never will we take anything for granted. .
