We were welcomed by a selection of ice-gold drinks upon arrival at the secluded garden, a much needed start to the very warm evening on June 30th. The sight of the bar and tables set out on the lawn was especially welcome after most of us had walked from Putney Bridge station, around 15 minutes away. If you are driving, or being dropped off by the main entrance, you can take a short and very pleasant route, walking past the palace and through the grounds.
Bovingdons had prepared wonderful canapés and plenty of mouth-watering dishes, that looked as amazing as they tasted, for us to enjoy throughout the evening. We loved the play with colour in the charcoal chicken sliders and bright pink lobster buns. The bowl food or teriyaki salmon and the tender duck were particularly memorable.
And to finish our feast, we were surprised with mini ice-cream cones that hit the spot in the evening sun.

The garden is a stunning backdrop to parties and celebrations. There is also an option for up to around 20 people to dine in a greenhouse that serves beautifully as a private dining space.
After we had finished the delicious and plentiful food and drink, it was great to stretch our legs on a stroll around the Walled Garden. The colourful array of summer flowers were in full bloom and the fruit, herbs and vegetables were ripening nicely, including the apples which will be sold as chocolate and toffee apples on ‘Apple Day’ in the autumn to raise funds for the upkeep of the palace and gardens. There are chickens and also a stall selling organic fruit and veg to the public, as the gardens welcome visitors all year round.
There is also plenty of room for outdoor games and activities should you want want to keep your teams busy for an hour or two.
