PA Life Club explored the event offerings at Tewinbury Farm & Hotel

Last week, a group of 25 PA Life Club members experienced a wonderful spring day in the country as guests of Tewinbury Farm & Hotel in Hertfordshire. The sunny afternoon was a perfect day for exploring what the venue has to offer – and there is a lot to take in both indoors and outdoors…

Pictures of the fam trip included further down the article.

The London based guests arrived by train at Welwyn North station, just 30 minutes from King’s Cross and jumped into taxis for a 10 minute drive to the farm. We were welcomed by Bea Benson, Business Development Manager and Lauren Retibi, Director of Sales from Tewinbury with coffee and tea at the ready in the stable yard, now a hub of activity and framed by a cafe, pizza oven, co-working space and more. The old farm house adds charm to the lovely setting, housing meeting rooms, a stunning guest rooms and a farm shop.

First up in our itinerary was a tractor ride around the 700-acre site. Accompanying us in the trailer was Ivor who is in charge of the farming business on this historic family-run farm that has provided for the Williams family nearly 100 years. It all started out as a dairy farm before guest rooms and other offerings were added.

The ride was a great way to see the vast fields, including the festival site which is set up with a music stage and a bar, ready for the first events as soon as the weather warms up. We also spotted a few sheep, ducks and a horse, but didn’t see the resident llamas unfortunately.

Lake-side cabins and upscale guest rooms for restful stays

It was then time to stretch out legs on a walk around the event spaces and check out some of the accommodation too. There is a lot to take in around the site, with accommodation and event spaces in different size buildings, located in peaceful spots around the farm. If you want a private setting, you can book the gorgeous self-contained Kingsbridge House, comes with 13 bedrooms – six in the house and a further seven nearby, a large kitchen diner and a separate dining/ meeting room, or set it up as a sitting room. It’s a charming oak framed building, located by the chalk river that runs through the estate. There are 53 rustic bedrooms in total at Tewinbury, including charming lake-side cabins, and many of the beautifully designed rooms come with hot-tubs and terraces.

Plenty of event offerings at Tewinbury Farm & Hotel to choose from

The event spaces cater for 5 โ€“ 500 indoors and 1500 outdoors, including the two-story restaurant building overlooking the river. The levels house separate spaces with their own toilets and cloakrooms. There is also a large barn which is perfect for informal gatherings and parties. It’s a covered space, decorated with haystacks and colourful lanterns, and heated with log burners. Don’t forget to book entertainment either and make use of the built-in stage.

We also took a short walk to see Roots, the outdoor setting for alfresco dining. That’s tucked away in a corner of the fam, by the kitchen garden. It looked so inviting, even in early March – I can only imagine how gorgeous it would be for a dinner under the stars in warmer weather.

Tewinbury Farm & Hotel is a perfect venue for outdoor activities

As you’d perhaps expect in a country setting, there are plenty of onsite activities to choose from. Duck hurdling, axe throwing, archery, cookery and crafts are just some to mention. And you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. They’ve even had a Ferris wheel set up for one business.

But you don’t have to spend the whole day outdoors should you choose not to. There is a fully-equipped cookery school which can host your teams for cooking workshops.

If you are after fitness activities, then Tewinbury will be well placed to offer you that too. It is expanding its leisure facilities in 2026 by becoming the first franchise of Tom Kempโ€™s โ€˜Farm Fitnessโ€™, which was recently awarded the title of โ€˜Best Gym in the Worldโ€™ by Menโ€™s Health.

We ended the day with a delicious wine tasting with food pairing dinner

After all the walking and fresh air, we were ready to sit down for wine tasting and food pairing dinner given by Tewinbury Farmโ€™s local partners at Humble Grape. The tables were laid out beautifully for a spring feast in the upstairs dining room. The view of the river running below us added to the atmosphere.

The four-course dinner was simply divine – the wines were perfectly chosen to bring the delicate flavours of the dishes out. The appetiser was a pea & tarragon arancini with Chateau Landonnet Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon. Our starter of seared scallops, or seared oyster mushroom, was served with South African Blackwater Chenin Blanc. The main course of poached spring chicken, or butternut squash and Hasselback went perfectly with Weingut von Winning Pinot Noir. The pudding to finish the meal was a forced rhubarb tart with English sparkling wine and paired with Weingut von Winning Reisling.
