Science Gallery London hosted PA Life Club over cocktails and afternoon tea

Science-Gallery-London-Courtyard-at-night

Cocktail making, a delicious afternoon tea, a presentation and show round of the venue. That was the fantastic Meet Up the Science Gallery Londonย hosted for PA Life Club on May 16th.

This relatively new venue, opened in 2018, is Kingโ€™s College Londonโ€™s flagship public space that brings together academics, researchers, students, and local communities. It formerly housed a wing of Guyโ€™s Hospital, its next door neighbour, and also a McDonaldโ€™s restaurant. Today the Science Gallery is a fantastic meetings and events venue in an enviable location, a short walk from London Bridge station.

Our Meet Up was capped at 30 PA, EA and VA Club members, hosted by Cristina da Gama Malcher –ย Venue and Events Sales Manager, Greta Hewison– Project Coordinator (SGL Programme Team), Melanie Amor – Sales & Events Executive and Tarkan Isiksalan – Events and Hospitality Manager.

We were welcomed at the Studio on the first floor by a glass of lovely house prosecco, Sea Change, with sales supporting research and protection against plastic pollution of our oceans. After an informative presentation of the venue and a preview of an upcoming AI Who’s looking after me? exhibition opening on June 21st, we were taken on a tour of the venue.

Tour of the Science Gallery London

We started with the Balcony, adjacent to the Studio, and overlooking the beautiful Courtyard which serves as a great outdoor space. It’s perfect for summer parties for up to 320 guests. the lovely square is open to the public during the day, a great place to stop by in the summer.

Leaving the Studio, we headed to the lower ground floor lecture Theatre. This space really wowed with its design and lighting. It can seat up to 120 and is serviced by a lift down to the stage floor, making it easily accessibly by wheelchair users.

Fun making cocktails

Following the tour it was time to get creative and try our hand at cocktail making. We were shown how a perfect Rose Bellini, with twist of tonic, should be made, and we all went to work mixing our own variations. Some ended up looking more like strawberry smoothies rather thank the pale blush summer cocktail intended.

We had great fun making them and the cocktails were delicious, and a perfect accompaniment to the afternoon tea that awaited us. Firstly, I must mention the delicious open sandwiches on a light choux pastry base filled with either smoked salmon or tomato and mozzarella balls. They were simply divine as were the mini scones and macaroons too. All made in-house from scratch and super fresh. The fantastic selection of teas deserve a mention too.
