PA Life is celebrating International Women’s Day this month by putting the spotlight on successful women in business and saluting their achievements. We spoke to Ervina Kiezaite, who has just been appointed as the new National Sales Manager for Conferences & Events at Butlin’s. Ervina has over 12 years’ experience in the industry and will oversee Butlin’s three resorts in Bognor Regis, Skegness and Minehead.

1. You have over 12 years of experience in sales, events and marketing. Which accomplishments are you most proud of?

I climbed the career ladder swiftly when I first landed in the UK, moving from receptionist to Events Manager in 7 months. Overseeing more than 5,000 events in total – something I curiously checked in the system just as I was leaving – might sound daunting, but it was like riding a never-ending rollercoaster of planning and problem-solving and probably running on caffeine… But that was just the beginning! From there, I took on new challenges in sales, marketing, and events for great brands, including Hard Rock Hotel. Looking back, my proudest accomplishment is proving to myself that no matter the role, the pressure, or the unexpected plot twists, I’d always find a way to make it work – and have fun doing it!

2. How do you prepare yourself for such an exciting new role as National Sales Manager for Conferences & Events?

I’m constantly learning – keeping up with the latest trends, engaging with industry experts, agents, and event organisers at meetings and tradeshows. Staying open-minded and adaptable is key because this industry moves fast! This approach keeps me on my toes and ready to tackle whatever comes my way in this exciting field.

3. Are you expecting any challenges? And if so, how do you plan on dealing with them?

Challenges come with any role, and being flexible is key to handling them well. At Butlin’s, the longevity of our team members, many of whom have been with the company for over a decade, speaks volumes about the positive environment and high satisfaction levels. This stability is a great base for using important psychological principles like resilience and adaptability – traits that really empower everyone at work. By learning from the experienced experts around me, I’m well-prepared to tackle any obstacles and add to our collective success. Working together this way not only helps us overcome challenges but also strengthens the supportive culture that Butlin’s is proud of.

4. What was your experience like as a woman in leadership in a more male-dominated business world?

London’s vibrant business environment has taught me a lot about the importance of diverse voices. It’s been a great place to learn how to make sure everyone’s heard and to seek for more creative solutions.

5. Do you have any advice for women starting out in the world of sales, marketing and events?

Yes, absolutely! My advice to women is to never underestimate the power of your unique voice and the distinct energy you bring to the table. It’s natural not to be everyone’s favourite, and that’s okay. The key is to trust your inner voice and stay true to yourself. Psychology teaches us about the strength of authenticity and the impact it can have on our confidence and self-esteem (which is soooo important). PLEASE always stay connected to who you are, trust your instincts, and let your genuine self-shine through in your work. This authenticity will not only guide you but also inspire those around you…

6. What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Hmm… probably endless opportunity to learn – not just about marketing, sales and event innovation but about people. Every event I attend and every new person I meet brings a unique perspective. Some connections not only broaden our professional networks but also deepen our empathy and help with our interpersonal skills. On International Women’s Day, it’s particularly meaningful to reflect on how these interactions have shaped me both personally and professionally. And honestly, after meeting so many people, I’ve learned one universal truth – everyone loves free food, a good story, and avoiding the awkward moment when you both go for the handshake and the hug at the same time!

7. How do you create a good work-life-balance for yourself?

That’s a great question. Honestly? When I’m overwhelmed, work-life balance can feel like a myth – definitely something I’m still working on! But we all know that recovery and joy are just as important as productivity. I enjoy daily walks in the park & writing poems or short essays… and when life feels less like lemons and more like lemonade, I make the most of it. I love gym activities, going to Latino dance classes, enjoying long dinners with friends & family, and, of course, traveling. I once spent months solo-traveling across Southeast Asia, so taking 6-7 trips a year feels completely reasonable… or at least that’s what I tell myself!
