The Landmark London’s 125 days of Afternoon Tea to mark the 125th anniversary

The-Landmark-London-125-days-of-Afternoon-Tea

The magnificent five-star, Grande Dame hotel, The Landmark London in Marylebone, celebrated it’s 125th anniversary on the 1st of July. The significant birthday is marked with very fitting 125 days of Afternoon Tea service. Our Editor enjoyed sampling the hotel’s award-winning high tea at the stunning Winter Garden earlier this month…

125 days of Afternoon Tea at the Landmark London

Afternoon Tea has always featured high on the hotel’s menu and they have won many awards for the excellent delivery of this quintessential British tradition too. The special Landmark London 125th anniversary tea menu has been given a makeover by Executive Pastry Chef Mauro Di Lieto, who’s also added the special logo on some of the pastries.

The Afternoon tea is served in the stunning Winter Garden Restaurant, beneath the elegant high palms in the hotelโ€™s famous atrium. We chose to add a glass of English sparking, Nyetimber Brut, to our order, a great way to make the occasion even more special. For us, the sandwiches are always the highlight of high tea and the Landmark selection was absolutely delicious with all the traditional favourites. Mine was the organic egg mayonnaise with black truffle and chives, and also the poached chicken with herb may and creme fraiche. We also loved the freshly baked Lemon and blueberry scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream of course, and the Bramley apple pavlova stood out as a light and delicious sweet treat to finish our high tea.

That wasn’t all, and I have to add that we took the rest of the delicious cakes home to enjoy next day, as it was simply too much to eat on an afternoon. Our handbag styled ‘doggie bag’ included hand-crafted English strawberry and custard tartlets, with elderflower Chantilly; Valrhona chocolate and peanut opera, with banana crรฉmeux; Choux with salted pistachio cream and black cherry compote.

The teas were equally wonderful. We enjoyed two bespoke house blends, the Winter Garden Blend and The Landmark blend with a hint of real Bourbon vanilla. Light, refreshing and full of flavour.

Priced at ยฃ70 per person, guests will be served unlimited teas from the varied menu and have the option to toast 125 years with a glass of English sparkling Nyetimber Brut (ยฃ83) or Nyetimber Rosรฉ (ยฃ93).

Reservations are recommended, please book here.

The Rose Garden in the Champagne Bar

There is also a stunning new Rose Garden at the Champagne Bar which has been curated in partnership with award-winning local florist Mary Jane Vaughan. The evocative summer of fresh blooms and sophisticated drinks menu are a perfect match. The elegant space has been transformed into a floral haven with an accompanying list of rosรฉ champagne, rosรฉ wines and cocktails.

It’s also great to note that when the plants reach the end of their lifecycle, the team will donate them to the homeless-focused charity St Mungosโ€™ โ€˜Putting Down Rootsโ€™ horticultural therapy and training program.

Perfectly complimenting the new surroundings, the Champagne Bar will also offer a newly created drinks menu from Director of F&B Cedric Lescure, and his skilful team, with a carefully crafted list of cocktails, Champagnes, and English sparkling.
