Once again, the Great Yorkshire Showground played host the well renowned Great Yorkshire Show. Celebrating its 165th year, the largest agricultural show in England attracted interest from high-profile political figures, famous faces and 140,000 visitors. This sold-out four-day annual event celebrates the best of farming, food and the countryside. The Great Yorkshire Showground, home to versatile event venues Pavilions of Harrogate and the Yorkshire Event Centre, is owned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a registered charity. The charity’s purpose is to help to develop an environment where farming, food and the countryside thrives and grows.
Both the Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC) and Pavilions of Harrogate are award-winning event venues located on the Great Yorkshire Showground. During the Show they are home to the Great Yorkshire Food and Gift Hall and Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Presidents and Members areas, providing hospitality, awards celebrations and corporate meetings and conferences for the UK’s leading brands.

Sustainability is a key objective on the Great Yorkshire Showground and our green credentials are growing year by year. The site, owned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, is undertaking a detailed mapping exercise which is part of a sustainable long-term vision and will measure the current abundance of biodiversity and carbon capture capacity, as well the potential to enhance these further.
None of our waste is sent to landfill, it is recycled or converted back into energy. The toilet doors are made from recycled plastic bottles and our on-site catering services only use recycled food packaging, wooden cutlery, and paper straws.
Alongside these sustainable working practices, both the Yorkshire Events Centre and Pavilions of Harrogate have reduced their onsite grid energy usage by installing 960 large solar panels across the site while LED lighting is used for all internal and external lighting.
All profits raised from Yorkshire Event Centre and Pavilions of Harrogate fund and support the work of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a registered charity helping to develop an environment where farming, food and the countryside thrives and grows.
