PAs are multitaskers in the truest meaning of the word, handling everything including travel arrangements, admin tasks, answering emails, organising meetings and events and everything in between. Yet they are often the unsung heroes of the office, never looking for praise from their colleagues for the amount of work they do, and therefore are often undervalued.
At this year’s office* show, PA Life Editor Amelia Walker will host a panel of established PAs from all walks of life on how to grow recognition of the PA role. The talk will highlight: how the role has changed in recent years, shifts in responsibility, the challenges faced by assistants, the drivers of change, the need for training and building the PA community.
The panel includes:
• Donna Coulling, PA to Helena Bonham Carter, Rachel Weisz, Sir Derek Jacobi and Samuel West. Donna has previously been a Keynote speaker at office* and has spoken at numerous PA events, including the PA Life Training Day. Her book The Chamber of Celebrity PA Secrets is available on Amazon now.
• Adam Fidler, Executive Assistant Trainer and Consultant. Adam was in secretarial roles for more than 20 years before branching out on his own to teach and develop other admin professionals in the UK and abroad. He will be presenting a course again at the next PA Life Training Day in November.
• Katie McEwan, EA to Jacqueline Gold, CEO of Ann Summers. Katie has presented at a number of conferences, namely the Hays PA Network, the PA Hub and ACE’s Scotland. In 2014 she was named Social Networking PA of the Year by SecsintheCity.
• Emily Mills, EA and Team Supervisor at Computer Sciences Corporation. Emily is co-founder of the Norwich PA Network and was a nominee for 2013’s PA of the Year. She is currently starting a new network in London’s N1C area.
Join Amelia and the panel in the Keynote Theatre from 10.30am-11.15am on Tuesday, 13 October at London’s Olympia. Register for the office* show HERE.
