PA Life talks toย Becky Gardiner, Head of Storey and Managed Workspace at British Land, where she oversees a portfolio of over 900,000 sq ft of flexible office space.ย The spaces are spread across British Land London campuses โ Broadgate, Paddington Central, Norton Folgate and Regentโs Place.
As demand grows for meaningful in-person collaboration, businesses are increasingly looking for meeting and event spaces that feel as considered as the workplace itself. Thatโs where Storey Club comes in. Located across two central London destinations in Broadgate and Paddington, Storey Club offers design-led meeting rooms and event spaces built for modern working, seamless hosting and memorable moments.
With 15 years at British Land, Becky has had roles varying from Head of Analysis to Broadgate Asset Management. For the past two and a half years, she has led the evolution of British Landโs flexible workspace offer opening 80,000 sq ft of new space within theย Storey portfolioย and nearly 400,000 sq ft under the Work Ready brand.
Storey Club was designed with modern work and flexibility in mind. How do you stay ahead of the competition?
Weโve worked hard to create a space that feels considered rather than corporate, and flexible rather than fixed. We invest in state-of-the-art technology so meetings run smoothly, without becoming a distraction. Equal attention is given to the materials we use, choosing options that are both sustainable and practical, while supporting privacy and acoustic comfort. Whether itโs a board meeting, workshop or large presentation, our spaces provide the structure people need without dictating how they use them. The aim is always to create an environment where conversations flow easily and focus comes naturally.
Flexibility is a word often associated with Storey Club. How does that show up when hosting events?
Flexibility for us isnโt just about movable furniture, itโs about how an event unfolds. Our spaces are designed to adapt and work for you, whether thatโs shifting from a presentation to breakout discussions or opening up for informal networking. The ability to evolve means events feel more natural and responsive, rather than locked into a single format. Giving the booker flexibility to run an event that works for them.
Many events are booked by PAs and EAs behind the scenes. How does Storey Club support them?
We understand the responsibility that comes with booking on behalf of others. Our role is to make that process feel straightforward and supported. From the initial conversation, bookers are looked after by a dedicated point of contact who will understand your brief and see it through to delivery on the day. Our team acts as an extension of the organiser, anticipating needs and smoothing out logistics.
What tends to resonate most with people visiting Storey Club workspaces in London for the first time?
Itโs often a combination of the space itself and where itโs located. From the hustle and bustle of Liverpool Street and Paddington stations, to stepping inside Storey Club there is an immediate shift in pace. The spaces offer a sense of calmness that comes from good design, natural light and thoughtful details. Guests appreciate how easily they can move between focused sessions and more informal moments, using lounges and breakout areas to reset or connect. And once the meeting or event wraps, the British Land campuses have been curated to offer an array of amenities.ย It couldn’t be easier to grab a canal-side bite to eat or a drink in the circle, or even a quick workout before your next meeting, there is truly something for everyone.
How does Storey Club respond to varied bookings?
Every event is different, so our approach is deliberately adaptable. Our spaces allow organisers to create a setup that suits their format, while our onsite team is there to help refine the experience in real time. It means customers get a space that feels tailored, not standardised.
What are you noticing about how businesses want to meet and gather now?
More than ever, businesses are thinking carefully about the experience of meeting in person. Theyโre looking for spaces that encourage interaction, support hybrid working and allow creativity to happen. Weโve worked hard to ensure Storey Club is a space that feels professional yet comfortable. A place to meet, think and wow!
We are delighted to have Storey as a PA Life Recommended Supplier.
