The seven desks of most effective people unveiled

Office products firm Fellowes has unveiled the seven types of desks that highly effective people have, and what each says about its owner.

Inspired by the famous business manual, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, first published in 1988 by Stephen R Covey, Fellowes has identified seven different desk typologies and the most common objects found at their workstations.

In a recent survey of 1000 office workers, Fellowes uncovered how 82% of people believe that organising your desk makes you more productive. A further 17% said that badly designed desks are one of their biggest office frustrations.

Thirty-four per cent of UK office workers say that the right office equipment would help them be productive and ultimately more creative.

The seven desk types found were:

  1. The Neat Freak – With a perfectly clean and tidy desk you need to have all your equipment exactly where it should be.
  1. The Creative Kid – You are always on the lookout for the next great idea with your desk surrounded by images, magazines and photography.
  1. The Social Butterfly – Surrounded with pictures of you and your friends out, most important is the calendar on the wall for your social engagements.
  1. The Number Cruncher You know there is nowhere better to hang out than in column A of an Excel spreadsheet.
  1. The Nester – Surrounded by a creative display of photos of your favorite times with family, notes from friends, postcards and invitations stacked high alongside your laptop.
  1. The Health Nut – With your healthy lunch to feast on after a spot of yoga, you are a creative clean machine.
  1. The Globe Trotter – Full of postcards and souvenirs from your trips for business and pleasure around the globe, your sunglasses are ready for action.

Thanks to its range of binders, laminators and trimmers customers can transform their workplace to inspire creativity and work better.

Celebrating 100 years in the office product industry, Fellowes aim to create an office environment which allows employees to reach their full potential in productivity and creativity. For more information, visit: www.fellowes.com
