Headhunter sets out to help execs

Writing a good executive assistant job description sometimes stumps employers because they donโ€™t know exactly what will attract suitable candidates. Brian Daniel, former celebrity PA and headhunter to the stars, has written a guide to help businesses get applications from top job seekers.

โ€œIt continues to amaze me that many employers donโ€™t know how to write a robust job description,โ€ says Daniel. โ€œThey either make it too short and vague, or include way too much meaningless information.โ€ According to Daniel, the trick is to find the right balance of duties and responsibilities.

In a difficult job market, employers are often inundated with CVs when they post a recruitment ad online. Only a small percentage of applicants can be considered qualified candidates though, often because the job description isnโ€™t clear enough.

Daniel goes on to say, โ€œAs a recruiter for celebrities, high-net-worth families and billionaires, I am privy to what employers actually want and they donโ€™t usually include essential job functions when writing a description.โ€

Assistants who work for high-profile employers are in demand, so itโ€™s important for the job posting to be well written in order to attract the best candidates. A description that lacks substance wonโ€™t convince someone to apply if they have years of experience in their current role, adds Daniel.
