Personal shoppers outline five fashion favourites for spring

Personal image consultant Valentina Saggese studied fashion and personal shopping at the Luxury Academy of Milan and has several yearsโ€™ experience of designer show rooms and high-level clothing shops. She and her partner Alain Mehada, who has been a stylist for more than 15 years, offer their expertise in a broad range of situations for both men and women, whether you want to look great for a job interview, or youโ€™ve made the decision to update your style. Here, Valentina and Alain reveal this seasonโ€™s trends.

โ€ข Fringes are this yearโ€™s obsession and every accessory has them; you can find them on shoes and handbags. They are the most famous fashion detail of the 1970s to make a comeback, but be aware of when you use them on clothes.

โ€ข The โ€œhippyโ€ dress โ€“ long and decorated with flowers, veils and ethnic designs. These are bohemian pieces that have featured on this seasonโ€™s catwalks, all very colourful and resembling paintings.

โ€ข Say yes to mini-shoulder bags, but they must be small and precious like jewellery. The trend is to wear them diagonally with the most current fashion look.

โ€ข Pastel colours are still in vogue โ€“ pink is very fashionable nowadays, but not as much as turquoise will be this spring. Denim is also popular, with its 1970s cuts, but it is not fundamental. The key word is turquoise.

โ€ข This season will see the grand return of the bell-bottom trousers. The most popular design channels the look of the hippy, which has been completely reinvented in a ready-to-wear version. In some instances itโ€™s more folk fashion, but with strong references to retro style.
