RESTAURANT REVIEW: HUSH MAYFAIR

Courtyard-at-Hush-London-PA-Life-restaurant-review

Our Editor visited Mayfair for a dinner and cocktails evening at one of its most popular dining destinations. Hush is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, in a quiet courtyard just behind Bond Street and has long been a favourite of those in the know and celebrities wanting to dine in peace. The restaurant was founded in 1999 by Jamie Barber and Geoffrey Moore, Sir Roger Mooreโ€™s son.

We visited on a November evening, but despite the season decided to sit outside in the very instagramable courtyard which was beautifully decorated in seasonal foliage and flowers. They are totally geared for any season with heaters and parasols keeping the guests very cosy.

As we sat down to take in the beauty of the place it was time for pre-dinner cocktails from Hush’s Into the Woods cocktail menu. I had A Sly & Stormy Night and my friend fancied an Old Fashioned Stag. Both drinks are spiced rum based with ginger ale, yet different. A great start for what felt like a very nice evening was going to evolve as soon as we stepped into the enchanted world of Hush.

What was the food like at Hush Mayfair?

The menu is modern European, with plenty of interesting twists that make you want to order half the menu and share it all with your table. As it was just the two of us, we kept to a starter of tuna tartare on a bed of avocado and mango and served with a soy dressing. Very fresh and tasty!ย  The wonderful sounding pasta and risotto dishes such as pumpkin risotto, Venetian curry prawn risotto and venison ragu caught my eye but I decided on a lighter option of a grilled Dover Sole which was superb I must add! My friend had a filet of beef, served perfectly medium with a wild mushroom sauce and triple fried chips.

After such a feast we didn’t have much room for pudding, yet couldn’t resist sharing the Chocolate Fondant with a molten lotus heart served with vanilla ice cream. Very yummy.

To conclude, the three-course dinner and the delicious Gavi DOCG 2021 which went perfectly with my fish supper, were a hit and we will be back soon. I’m really keen to see what their courtyard will look like during the festive season. Expecting mulled wine and hot chocolate drinks to keep us warm.

The Bar At Hush

The staff at Hush we incredibly friendly and accommodating, from our waiter Amer to the bar manager Luca who invited us to the upstairs lounge bar. How come I haven’t been here before? The DJ played great tunes adding to the relaxed atmosphere at this very sophisticated bar. Now to the cocktails as they deserve a special mention. The mixologists were a joy to watch as they created incredible cocktails at speed. I loved my smoked Negroni and the Signature sip Perrito Caliente, a mix of Ketel One Vodka with homemade rosemary honey, lime, and Two Keys Pink Grapefruit Soda, finished with a Tajin rim was a hit with my friend.

The Bar At Hush prides itself on offering a bespoke experience to all, so no matter what youโ€™re in the mood for, the team will come up with a creative concoction just for you. Whilst cocktails take centre stage, a wide selection of wines, craft beers and ales, plus top shelf spirits and zero proof choices are also on offer.

Private room hire at Hush

For those looking to host an event or celebrate an occasion, Hush Mayfair has plenty of private dining options – the dining room is known as the Sir Roger Moore Room. They cater for groups from 10-100 guests, with the option for exclusive hire.
For smaller groups of up to 50 standing, the first floor Blades provides an elegant setting, with the space having been designed in partnership with Hush founder member Evgeny Lebedev and menswear designed Jsen Wintl.
