South African politician accused of sexual assault

A 20-year-old woman has filed sexual assault charges against South Africa’s Western Cape African National Congress (ANC) chairman Marius Fransman (pictured) after she was appointed his personal assistant.

The victim says she met Fransman and was offered a job before going for an interview on 2 January. She was given the position and accompanied the politician on a trip to Rustenberg, South Africa for the ANC’s 104th anniversary on 4 January.

According to the official report, the victim alleges the first incident happened in the car on the way to the event, when Fransman touch her inappropriately.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the victim claims she was forced to share a bed with Fransman, where he wrapped his arms around her and rubbed himself against her. When she confronted him to say she was uncomfortable, Fransman allegedly told her she would have to deal with it if she wanted the job.

The victim filed a complaint with the Sun City police, who state the case is open and an investigation has started.
