Staff say ‘bah humbug’ to Christmas parties

There’s still two months to go and four out of five people are already feeling underwhelmed by their work Christmas party.

Despite this year’s festivities still being a whole two months away, a recent survey carried out by indoor skydiving specialists Airkix reveals that the majority of workers are feeling indifferent about their office or team Christmas party. The results show that only 22% are excited about their party and see the event as one of the year’s highlights.

In addition, the survey results found that 94% of people want to do something different (and more fun) for their work Christmas party. Dinner, drinks, dancing and some form of cringe-worthy entertainment – doesn’t sound like your idea of a fun Christmas party? Well don’t worry because it isn’t most people’s either. Nearly 90% of respondents said they would prefer their office or team celebrations to involve a fun activity.

With as little as 4% of people saying that they wouldn’t make any changes whatsoever to their Christmas party, businesses need to think differently about their Christmas celebrations.

Christmas parties can be especially important for maintaining and creating a positive morale among staff, so it’s important that businesses get it right, especially those that are spending some of their profits on the annual event.”
