Formula 1® and Tottenham Hotspur reveal the latest on their F1 karting partnership

F1-Drive-and-Tottenham-Hotspur-Stadium

The eagerly awaited F1 DRIVE – London experience – the first in the world – is being built under a world renowned North London football stadium in partnership with Formula 1® and Tottenham Hotspur who are pleased to share the latest details on its impending launch.

The world’s first in-stadium F1 karting facility will be based below Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s iconic South Stand, as part of a 15-year strategic partnership between the Club and Formula 1.

Formula 1® and Tottenham Hotspur F1 DRIVE for an authentic F1 thrill

The brand-new facility will include a number of bespoke features designed to create the most authentic Formula 1 driving experience. Drivers of all ages and ability levels will be able to take part in the exciting driving experience including:

  • Immersive in-kart audio, complete with sound effects taken from onboard recordings of the cars of Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc during an F1 Grand Prix™ this season, commentary from David Croft and Naomi Schiff and live driving tips
  • Karts featuring a simulated ‘DRS’ (Drag Reduction System) button on the steering wheel, allowing greater speed when close to the competitor in front
  • Steering wheels featuring an 18cm LED display, providing data and updates to the driver such as lap times, intervals, boost level and flags
  • Timing screens, sector times and colours matching official F1 broadcast graphics to further add authenticity

The one-of-its-kind experience will also include separate tracks for both adults and juniors and, as part of Tottenham Hotspur’s wider commitment to creating one of the world’s most accessible stadiums, the F1 DRIVE – London experience will be fully inclusive with dual karts available to cater for accessible requirements.

Get ready to race at the F1 DRIVE – London

Drivers will be able to use DRS to defend against their competitors and add tactical elements to their race. Providing they are close to the competitor in front, the karts will produce greater acceleration and a higher top speed – just as in Formula 1 – when the driver presses the button in a ‘DRS detection zone’ on the track.

Karts also feature a ‘boost’ button which will deliver additional power for short bursts of time. Boost levels will recharge during the session.

  • F1 DRIVE – London is set to open to the public early next year.
  • F1 DRIVE – London will release more information on the visitor attraction, track layouts, ticket on-sale dates and opening times in the coming weeks.

Combined with the overall look and feel of the venue, the F1 DRIVE – London experience will bring guests closer than ever to the exhilarating on-track battles performed by their favourite Formula 1® drivers during a Grand Prix™ weekend.

Karts will race in four standout liveries and will come in two sizes, with modifications designed to provide an enjoyable experience for all, whether you are visiting with family, friends, colleagues or as an avid racer.

Todd Kline, Chief Commercial Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors to the world’s first Formula 1® karting facility here in Tottenham. It will be another attraction at our world-class stadium and will act as an innovative gateway into motorsport for new fans looking to discover the thrill of Formula 1®, while giving the most passionate race fans a truly first-of-its-kind experience.”

Jonny Haworth, Director of Commercial Partnerships, Formula 1, said: “We wanted to create a karting experience that truly captures the feeling and atmosphere of Formula 1 and offers an accessible entry point to our sport for as many people as possible, and F1 Drive – London is going to deliver on this vision and more. Whether you are just starting out on your motorsport journey with your eyes set on the F1 Grid or are looking for a great day out with family and friends, F1 Drive – London can deliver an authentic F1 experience for all. I am excited to see the karts launch and track testing begin, and I can’t wait to see our fans hitting the track in the new year.”
