clic+ Club events start this Friday

A must for PAs across the UK who organise meetings and events, registration for Robinson Collegeโ€™s first clic+ Club events are still open, with the first event taking place this Friday, 20 May 2016.

clic+ is an event series for event organisers conceived and developed by Robinson College, Cambridge, one of the UKโ€™s leading academic venues, and was founded on four key principles: Connect, Learn, Innovate and Communicate. Itโ€™s a buzzing forum of knowledge sharing, networking and healthy debate, designed to both educate and celebrate the MICE sector. Created by event organisers for event organisers, this series has been shaped by an advisory board who understand the needs and concerns of the industry.

Following two successful clic+ events in 2014 and 2015 it was decided that instead of holding a one-off event for 2016 Robinson College would create a smaller, more exclusive series of seminars called โ€˜clic+ Clubโ€™ exploring the various considerations of the eventโ€™s journey, from the initial research work to managing the occasion on the day, all under the umbrella title: โ€˜The 5 Steps to Successful Events โ€“ Research, Planning, Creation, Delivery and Analysis.โ€™

The series commences with an in-depth look at the research process, exploring how to go about researching for an event and the factors to consider, welcoming two experts to address attendees: Jackie Mulligan, Director of Enterprise and Principal Lecturer at UK Centre for Events Management, Leeds Beckett University and Richard John, Management and Events Consultant, industry trainer and event journalist.

Jackie will share her preliminary findings at the first clic+ club event on Friday 20 May 2016 prior to publishing in February 2017. Jackieโ€™s interim results will certainly give plenty to think about when planning meetings and events and demonstrates how important research is for the overall delegate experience.

When it comes to research and developing new events, Richard will explore the need to move from โ€œsellerโ€ to โ€œeducatorโ€ by delivering effective knowledge-based live events, such as seminars and workshops. Heโ€™ll be sharing some ideas about branding and positioning events to attract the right audience and will discuss how to create a demand that is enough to attract a โ€œhungryโ€ audience.
