Talent expert reveals how AI can help you land your dream job

We have reached new highs in job search with AI which can now help you talk to your hiring manager and even predict your future salary. Fritz Singer, VP of Talent at leading HR software company Personio, reveals how AI can help you land your dream job…

The rise in AI tools in job searches and in recruitment have been rapid. Today, over half (57%) of candidates use OpenAI to help write their CVs, cover letters and job applications1, with AI fast becoming a critical tool in the modern job hunt.

There are various ways AI can be used to help people land their dream jobs quicker than ever before, from finding hidden roles to role-playing to prepare for an interview. Hopeful job hunters can turn to AI tools to help them secure their dream job.

How can AI help you to land your next role

1. Forecast your future salary

Some AI tools analyse job ads, salary databases, and location-based data to estimate what a role should pay or whether your CV is competitive in your field. This helps candidates go into negotiations better informed and avoid low-balling themselves.

2. Suss out the company

Before an interview, put the companyโ€™s website, blog posts, or even LinkedIn content into an AI tool to summarise tone, values, and internal culture. This can help you tailor your language and vibe to match the company’s personality and even prep for cultural fit questions.

If you know whoโ€™s interviewing you, you can also feed their online content into an AI tool to generate a personality snapshot and highlight any shared interests. This can help you build rapport in the interview.

3. Let AI highlight your strengths

If you donโ€™t know how to talk about your soft skills or achievements, AI can help by suggesting powerful, concise ways to frame your experience, especially if youโ€™re unsure how to showcase metrics or outcomes. For example, AI can turn โ€˜helped manage a teamโ€™ into โ€˜collaborated with a team of 5 to deliver a 15% increase in KPIs.โ€™

4. Prep for an interview

Many AI tools can replicate common interview questions or help you build tailored answers using common HR frameworks, such as STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result). This is especially useful for tricky questions like โ€˜whatโ€™s your biggest weakness?โ€™ or โ€˜tell me about a time you faced a challenge.โ€™

AI tools like Anamsโ€™ โ€˜interview meโ€™ platform allow you to practice your interview questions and receive feedback afterwards.

5. Uncover missed job opportunities

AI tools can also help you find the right roles. Some platforms can suggest job titles based on your skills, help rewrite your LinkedIn profile for better visibility, or even scan job boards to surface listings that match your criteria. You can also use searches or prompts such as โ€˜find remote marketing jobs in Amsterdam under X companyโ€™ to uncover roles you mightโ€™ve missed.

6. Optimise your online presence

Recruiters often check candidatesโ€™ digital footprints, so make sure yours stands out. AI tools can help you update your LinkedIn bio, write a strong personal summary, or even generate relevant posts to share. By using AI to create thoughtful, on-brand content, you can position yourself as active and engaged in your industry.

Singer observed: โ€œAI is transforming how people approach job hunting. Used properly, it can help candidates craft stronger applications and feel more confident throughout the process.

โ€œThe key is using it ethically. AI should be used to highlight your skills, not to fake them and you want your communication to be personalised, not generic or obviously written by a machine.โ€
