A great work day out: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

great work day out Harry Potter

PA Life Club members enjoyed a fantastic afternoon and evening of magical entertainment on August 18th.  30 of our Club members attended the Meet Up to watch the original production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End.

Huge thanks go to the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child London team behind the Meet Up, which also included a fantastic three-course dinner at a great Soho institution that’s Sophie’s Steakhouse.

The play is performed as two separate shows, both two and a half hours long. Part One of the play started at 2pm and finished around 4:30, allowing us ample time to walk to the nearby Sophie’s Steakhouse where we were welcomed with a glass of prosecco, followed by a delicious dinner. Sophie’s doesn’t just serve great steaks– many in our party opted for other choices including tasty vegan dishes. The décor of this very spacious restaurant is contemporary, with a glass-walled private dining room at the back, so you don’t feel cut off the buzzing atmosphere. There is also a rather grand bar greeting you as you arrive.

The Part Two started at 7pm. The timings worked well for us with no need to rush our meal either.

What was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child like?

Whether you are a Harry Potter fan or not, a child or a grandparent, you are likely to be swept into the story and fantastic performances from the start. The cast was perfect, just what I envisaged as a parent who’s seen all the Harry Potter films, and the super special effects were jaw-dropping– or was it magic? The show is a perfect day out for friends, family and colleagues and we all agreed that both Parts were thoroughly entertaining and kept us in suspense till the end.

Whether you’re looking to wow clients, incentivise or motivate the team, give prospective business partners a magical moment they’ll never forget or simply organise the best work day out you’ve ever organised, look no further than Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. With excellent seats, great group rates and VIP options available with the ability to entertain pre-show and between Parts One and Two, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the ultimate West End Theatre experience. Now, the world’s most Award-Winning Play is a preferred partner of PA Life.

More about the show

There’s magic in every moment in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the most awarded play in history and “one of the most defining pop culture events of the decade” (Forbes). And now, the 8th Harry Potter story is bringing the magic back to London’s West End.

19 years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the wizarding world, they’re back on a most extraordinary new adventure – this time, joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Prepare for spectacular spells, a mind-blowing race through time, and an epic battle to stop mysterious forces, all while the future hangs in the balance.

This one-of-a-kind theatrical experience is packed with “thrilling theatricality and pulse-pounding storytelling” (The Hollywood Reporter). It will leave you “audibly wowed, cheering and gasping” (The Telegraph), as “visions of pure enchantment send shivers down your spine” (Rolling Stone). “It is out of this world, it’s magic, it’s a hit” (The Times).

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne received its world premiere in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre in summer 2016.
