On October 14th, 20 of PA Life Club’s PA, EA and Office Manager members enjoyed a lunch time introduction event to Minor Hotels worldwide, hosted by Yvonne Wissart and her team at nhow London.
Wine and soft drinks awaited us on arrival at the hotel’s striking and colourful lobby-come-lounge and restaurant area. It was evident as soon as we stepped inside the hotel that contemporary British design, drawing from iconic London landmarks and history, has been the inspiration for the design brief. In fact all nhow hotels, currently eight in Europe and one in Lima, are designed to reflect the city they are in.
There was a lot to take in this large shared space which has a great yellow bar in the centre of it, and a reception desk in one end. Giant Big Ben rocket, armchairs with jackets of the Chelsea Pensioners, a huge teddybear sitting in a porter’s chair and old fashioned telephone boxes were just some of the artefacts.
Tour of nhow London hotel and its event spaces
After a welcome talk by Yvonne on what nhow Hotel brand and the wider Minor Hotels Group can offer corporate bookers, we we split in to groups ahead of the tour of the property. The 190 bedrooms and suites are all individually designed with colourful doors looking like typical London front doors – classy Victorian ones of course. The art and design touches are carried to the rooms too. You can reserve one of the seven spacious suite, or event a fabulous penthouse suite, which are also true to the playful style touches such as a thick grass green carpet like a lush lawn.
There are three meeting and events rooms available, the largest one is the Visual Lab can host up to 70 people. You can also hire the Lobby area for 150 people and make use of the Sports Bar as well, or reserve the Guilty London restaurant for up to 100 people. The more cosy Fireplace Lounge & Bar at the far end of the lobby area is a gorgeous space for smaller gatherings of up to 60 people.
We were treated to a feast of a lunch at the Guilty London restaurant
After the tours of the property, it was time to sit down for a three-course lunch at the Guilty London restaurant which. What a wonderful mid-week treat it was too. It is described as a cosmopolitan, irreverent and modern eatery, created by Chefpreneur Olivier da Costa as the renowned restaurant concept where you can embrace your guilty pleasures.
The starters were served as a self-serve option of nachos, prawn tacos and salads. The menu is modern European and we enjoyed fantastic steaks serves with fries and bakes tomatoes, a chef’s special chicken tikka with dal and perfect fish and chips.
