PA Life Club enjoyed exquisite dinner & service at The Lansdowne Club

The recent PA Life Club fam trip to The Lansdowne Club in the heart of Mayfair was a fine showcase of exquisite hospitality. 20 of our members were treated to a memorable evening on October 23rd.

We arrived at the classic building, located near Berkeley Square, that has been a private membersโ€™ club for the past 90 years. It was founded for both female and male members having equal status, showing progressive thinking for the era.

We started our evening at the Billiards Room where the event team were ready to meet and greet us with glasses of bubbly and delicious canapes. A golf simulator is also part of this traditional games room and many of us were keen to try our hand at teeing off. Itโ€™s a fun way to bring a little competitive socialising to a drinksโ€™ reception or a team social.

The CEO and Club Secretary, David Herbert, joined us to give a very informative welcome talk that included facts from the colourful history of the property, to information of what being a member today entails. The club also welcomes corporate and private hire events and celebrations to its beautiful spaces.

Tour of The Lansdowne Club took in stylish meeting and entertaining spaces

The Club is not only praised for its beautiful rooms and spaces, and great hospitality, but also for excellent fitness facilities. Members can enjoy an state-of-the art gym, a gorgeous 20-meter swimming pool, housed in a classic room, and also fencing courts โ€“ a rare find in London. We were lucky to witness a training session of skilled swords men and women during our tour.

The meeting and event spaces are classical, keeping to the art dรฉcor style of the building as it was when it opened as a members club in 1935. We had a chance to see the Findlay Room that overlooks the Courtyard. Itโ€™s true to the original art dรฉcor styling but has been given a more modern finish. This boutique space comes complete with an ante room and makes an impressive setting for private dining or boardroom meetings.

The blush reception rooms on the ground floor are grand, yet invitingly homely, and the Grade II* listed 18ย Century Ballroom features an impressive gilded vaulted ceiling and minstrel galleries. Itโ€™s a truly magnificent space of delightful mix of quintessential English charm and timeless luxury โ€“ perfect for special occasions such as awards ceremonies and dinners.

The Ballroom offers generous floor space with unobstructed views and can seat up to 120 in cabaret style, or 190 banquet style. Flooded with natural light, the adjoining Long Gallery makes the perfect setting for guest registration, refreshment breaks, or an elegant drinks reception for up to 200 guests.

The Club has several bars, including the historical Round Room Cocktail Bar and a Piano Bar, all servicing superb cocktails, wines or almost anything you’d want. There is also an al fresco Courtyard for more casual dining and gatherings.

Our 3-course dinner with 5* service at The Lansdowne Club

The piece-de-resistance of the evening was undoubtably the 3-course dinner served in the Shelburne Room. The Executive Head Chef, Henry Brosi, and his team had created a showstopping menu for us, and equally impressive was the immaculately orchestrated silver service by the team. Itโ€™s rare to experience such level of immaculate service today โ€“ congratulations and a big thank you is due for the hospitality and event teams at Lansdowne.

The elegant third floor Shelburne Room makes the perfect setting for memorable and distinguished events. This wonderfully spacious suite, seating up to 30 in Boardroom style, comes complete with its own private ante room. It also benefits from natural daylight and gives a sense of occasion to any event.

What was on the menu at The Lansdowne Club

As a starter, we had a gateau of hot smoked salmon served with Cornish crab, avocado, crรจme fraiche and caviar.

Our main course was a pan-friend fillet of sea bass served with pepper and basil confit, olives, capers, olive oil potatoes, beets, asparagus and chive beurre blanc.

The dessert was a light pear mousse โ€“ in a shape of a pear โ€“ and served with red wine pear compote and pear sorbet.

Coffees, teas and beautiful petit fours sealed the fabulously served and superbly delicious dinner.

If you need to book a private dinner to impress clients or senior execs, you wouldnโ€™t go wrong in the capable hands of the Lansdowne Club team.
