Last Friday, we started off the weekend with a fantastic FAM trip to Mercure London Earls Court, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment. Not only were we able to see all the rooms, conference spaces and the impressive new ballroom, but we also enjoyed a tasty lunch and drinks at Barnaby’s Kitchen. We finished off the afternoon with a cocktail-making masterclass – what a great way to start the weekend!
Once the guests arrived, we were split into two groups (Caffeine and Champagne – and you can guess which group everyone wanted to be in!) and our hotel tour began. We viewed the Deluxe Privilege Room, featuring a king-size bed, marble bathroom and views across the city, as well as the Superior, Standard and Classic rooms and the ibis budget rooms – all stylish and spacious in their own way.
Our hosts eagerly answered questions as we walked through the corridors and shared more information about the hotel’s recent refurbishment.
The refurbishment and joining of two hotels
The ibis London Earls Court has been repositioned as a dual-branded property and has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment over the past two years. Relaunched in August 2026, it is now known as the Mercure and ibis London Earls Court Hotel, with 226 ibis rooms and 282 Mercure rooms. The refurbished Mercure rooms (46 of which are still yet to be completed) are inspired by the iconic TARDIS from Doctor Who, with upgraded facilities and contemporary touches. At 12 storeys high, Mercure and ibis London Earls Court offers breath-taking views of the London skyline, including the Shard.
From small and medium-sized meeting rooms to the ballroom with its private entrance, we were impressed by the wide range of spaces available for corporate hire. We spent the most time in the ballroom, with its own industrial kitchen and space to cater for up to 800 guests. And that’s not all – we learned that the room can be split into 16 smaller areas, making it perfect for exhibitions, large awards ceremonies and events.
After the tour, we enjoyed a buffet lunch and drinks at Barnaby’s Kitchen – a fresh addition to the hotel’s dining line-up. The restaurant focuses on British food with a twist, incorporating spices and cooking methods from around the world. While the guests were networking and enjoying their drinks, the bartenders were busy preparing for our final activity – a cocktail-making masterclass.
Everyone left with a Mercure London goodie bag and a print copy of PA Life magazine. With its location between Fulham and Chelsea, the hotel is also perfectly placed for guests to continue their evening, whether that means heading out for dinner and drinks or exploring some of London’s nearby attractions. Kew Gardens, Harrods and the capital’s vibrant dining scene are all within easy reach, making it a great base for a full day – and evening – in London.
