PA Life spoke to Nicola Pinder, Senior Business Development Manager about what makes events special at Emirates Old Trafford

1. What attracts PAs and event bookers most to organise events at Emirates Old Trafford?

Everything PAs and other event bookers will need for an event whist they are here is available on-site – we’re proud to offer everything in one place for our clients. From our 250-bedroom hotel, pitch-view restaurant, a free 700-space car park to the excellent transport links back into Manchester. This is all available alongside our wide range of unique event spaces. I can confidently say that we are the perfect event destination.

Our clients also receive support from our fabulous team of event coordinators. The team are helping from the moment the client signs their event contract with us, ensuring that ever-important constant level of communication which we understand to be absolutely vital.

2. What type and size of events do you organise most?

Anything from boardroom meetings for 10 delegates, to award dinners for 750 delegates, or even conferences for up to 1,000 delegates. We really do have a wide range of event spaces to suit varying capacities and host a broad range of events each year at Destination Emirates Old Trafford.

But if we had to pick, our most popular events would be conferences and award dinners – people love us for these!

3. Do you have a typical client?

We’re proud to appeal to all types of event bookers due to the variety of our event spaces and our on-site, 250-bedroom hotel.

Our lovely clients are typically PAs, event planners, fundraising managers, agents and corporate event bookers.

4. Can you give us more specifics about your spaces and facilities available for event hire?

At Destination Emirates Old Trafford, our indoor event spaces are spread across three buildings, all of which are connected by indoor bridge links ensuring convenience for our clients.

The Point – Our largest, purpose-built event space offers capacity for up to 1,000 guests, 1,125m² of floor space, and a 7.4 metre-high ceiling. The Point is perfect for large-scale events with life-size props and decorations! The space offers a blank canvas where clients can completely make it their own.  We can also break the space up into three separate rooms if needed, providing break-out space for larger events.

Pavilion – We’re proud to offer 16 event suites in our iconic Pavilion building, all ranging in size. The unique spaces in the Pavilion typically house smaller events, accommodating for up to 220 guests in our largest suite. The cricket heritage and traditional décor is what gives these event spaces its unique feel, providing an environment which isn’t offered anywhere else in Manchester.

Hotel – The Edge is our new, contemporary restaurant which can also double-up as an open-plan event space with accompanying outdoor balcony. The pitch-view space offers a unique setting whether guests are sitting down and enjoying the exquisite restaurant menu or attending an event. Whatever the occasion, breathtaking stadium views are guaranteed!

Outdoor spaces – We also have a range of outdoor space which can be used for filming purposes or if a client simply wants to include some outdoor space as part of their event. Regardless of what the client is using the outdoor space for, we can ensure they will have a spectacular view of our iconic stadium!

We’re lucky that all of our event spaces boast spectacular views of our world-class cricket pitch, alongside natural daylight, private balconies and complimentary Wi-Fi.

5. Who takes care of the catering for you?

Our Club culinary partner Sodexo Live! supply the catering for all hospitality experiences and all events held at the venue, and are integrated into the business.

6. Can your menus be tailor-made for events?

The Edge is our contemporary on-site, pitch-view restaurant based in the Hilton Garden Inn hotel which offers breakfast to hotel residents, and an evening dinner service to hotel residents and members of the public.

If a client has a specific request for tailor-made menus for their event based in the hotel, the hotel team can adapt the existing menu and work with the client to achieve what they’re looking for.

7. You also have an on-site hotel with some rooms offering pitch-side views. How much has the hotel enhanced your event offering?

Our on-site hotel and hotel extension, of an additional 100 bedrooms, have taken us to the next level and offers a high level of convenience for both guests and event organisers during multi-day events held at the venue. The inclusion of our on-site hotel reinforces us as a venue what we are a complete events destination – offering everything you need for an event all in one place.

8. What can a PA expect from your event team when they book Emirates Old Trafford?

From the initial enquiry stage through to the planning stage, the client will have a dedicated sales team and coordinator contact to ensure that a high-level of communication and support is met throughout the whole process. During the event the client will have an on-hand, experienced duty manager for any queries or questions, no matter how big or small. We believe a clear stream of communication is key to a great event!
