1 in 3 assistants ready to move roles

Career confidence among management assistants is soaring, with 56% saying they plan to move jobs this year and more than a third (36%) considering a move within the next six months. This comes on the back of research showing that more than half (56%) of PAs are dissatisfied with their present salary, while 53% state there isnโ€™t scope for further progression in their current role.

According to a new study by recruitment agency Hays PA & Secretarial, job opportunities for admin support professionals are increasing, with more organisations returning to the model of one PA to one executive as the recession subsides. The top priority for employees looking for a new role was found to be a generous holiday allowance of more than 25 days (41%) and a decent pension (30%).

Looking at the UK workforce in general, more than 75% of employees applied for a new job over the past 12 months. Of these, more than half (56%) declared themselves to be satisfied with the application process; this is a figure that compares favourably to mainland Europe, where it drops to just 42%, says a survey conducted by talent management firm Kelly Services.
