Copenhagen named best city for on-time performance

OAG, the global leader in air travel intelligence, is today announcing the results of the OAG Punctuality League 2015, the industry’s most comprehensive annual ranking of on-time performance (OTP) for the world’s airlines and airports.

For the first time, this year’s league table incorporates enhanced depth and coverage from OAG’s newly consolidated flight status and day-of-travel database, OAG flightview.

In the ‘Top Global Meetings and Conventions Cities’ category, new for 2015, OAG reveals that Copenhagen is the best city in the world for OTP, rated by the combination of OTP of all airports in that city, with the highest average for on-time flights at 88.53%.

According to a 2015 report on the most popular meetings and conventions cities by the International Convention and Congress Association (ICCA), Copenhagen was the 13th most popular conference city by number of meetings globally, having fallen from 8th place in the prior year’s report. Copenhagen also tops 2015’s ‘Best Medium Airports’ in OAG’s Punctuality League.

Berlin reaches second place in OAG’s league with an average OTP of 86.3% although the city only sits fourth in ICCA’s popularity report. Vienna reaches third place in OAG’s league with an OTP of 85.12% and is ranked second in the ICCA’s most popular conference cities report. Vienna is closely followed by Singapore in fourth place (84.8% OTP and seventh in the ICCA ranking) and Stockholm takes fifth place with 84.2%.

The ICCA report places Paris in first place as the most popular meetings and convention city but OAG’s Punctuality League lists the city at 14th with an average OTP of 75.25%. There is a dramatic gap between the popularity of London and its on-time performance. The ICCA reports London as the sixth most popular city, however, OAG’s Punctuality League only places London in 16th with an OTP of just 71.50%.
