De Vere Wokefield Estate, near Reading – part of The Principal Hotel Company – has unveiled its new 1300 square metre 95-bedroom Executive Centre, which is part of the Estate’s wider phased refurbishment project, which will see many areas upgraded. Also offering 51 high-tech meeting rooms, De Vere Wokefield Estate seamlessly combines the modern facilities of the Executive Centre with the heritage and history of the Mansion House.
Featuring some of the most extensive facilities within the De Vere portfolio for meetings, conferences, team-building events and corporate golf, the renovation has been designed to reaffirm De Vere Wokefield Estate’s position as one of the UK’s leading country estate venues for premium events.
The estate’s first phase renovation includes an extensive overhaul of its modern executive centre, with 95 completely new bedrooms, 54 fully-upgraded bedrooms and a brand new outdoor seating area within the courtyard.
Subsequent works planned for completion by the end of Q1 this year include a comprehensive upgrade to the exec centre’s core pre-function space, ‘The Street’, and the refurbishment of its remaining 73 bedrooms. The company’s signature coffee shop Burr & Co is planned to launch in the property in January 2017.
Future phases will see the venue’s historic mansion house undergo a complete transformation, with upgraded function rooms including the traditional Maple Suite, which can accommodate up to 350 delegates for meetings or 280 for a banquet. Additional upgrades will include a new reception with boot room, a new restaurant, bar and lounge and the upgrade of 87 mansion house bedrooms in a contemporary yet characterful design sympathetic to the building’s British heritage.
Howard Lewis, De Vere Wokefield Estate’s General Manager commented: “I am delighted to see phase one of our landmark restoration complete with the upgrade of our modern exec centre and I am looking forward to seeing the transformation across the estate unfold as we restore this well-established popular venue to its former glory.”
The investment is part of a multimillion-pound development project across the De Vere country estates portfolio, designed to position the mansion houses back at the very heart of the properties and celebrate their unique place in British history.
The 376-bedroom De Vere Wokefield Estate is set within glorious Berkshire countryside just 40 minutes from London Heathrow Airport. With its sweeping gravel drive and picturesque lake, the impressive estate provides an ideal backdrop for a full range of events. Facilities include 51 function rooms across two meeting venues – the iconic mansion house and hi-tech exec centre – as well as 250 acres of outdoor space for team-building events including a permanent high ropes and zip wires course and an award-winning PGA standard golf course.
