Engaging content for engaging events

Ben Cole, Managing Director at Inspired Live, drills down into what makes for great content at an event.

A great event needs great content โ€“ but it needs great presentation too.

Whatever the event, it is crucial to create great experiences for your audiences that are engaging, memorable and inspiring. But how do you create great content, how can it be used to attract an audience to an event and how can presenters deliver the content in an engaging and inspiring way?

There are a number of elements that need to be considered when thinking about developing engaging content. These elements include:

The power of experience
Great experiences stimulate great ideas and trigger moments of inspiration. By creating great experiences for your audiences you can turn any event into one that is engaging, memorable and inspiring.

โ€œWhatโ€ versus โ€œhowโ€
The whole approach to planning a successful experience is based on having the right mindset. The “how” part of event planning, such as deciding on the venue and catering, is often the start point. However we encourage a different approach, to focus first on the “what” of event planning, ie what we need to communicate and to whom.

The art of engagement
In order to engage with an audience you need to know who they are, what they do and what experiences would relate to them. Its only once you know this that you can develop ways to attract them to attend the event and effectively engage with them throughout the experience.

Becoming a storyteller
In order for any experiences to be successful the content must be conveyed to the audience effectively. Storytelling has the potential to help make content come to life and therefore is more likely to be remembered long after the event is over.

When these four elements are brought together, a good event becomes a great experience โ€“ intelligent, engaging and memorable โ€“ and creates real advocacy for your brand.
