Here’s how to create the perfect home office

Forget perching on the edge of the kitchen table, or sitting cross-legged on the bed (you’re not Carrie Bradshaw…), here are some top tips to creating the ultimate working environment at home.

The guide comes courtesy of Robert Dyas, which points out that the perfect office environment doesn’t have to mean a corporate building in the city. More and more employees are now based remotely, with employers giving workers the opportunity and flexibility to work from home. A Government report published in November 2017 found that in 2016, almost four million employees within the UK were based remotely, and choosing to make their home, their office.

There are clearly many benefits to working remotely. No commute, more adaptability and ultimately for many, less stress. But in order to work successfully and be at your most productive, you need the right equipment and accessories around you to create a home office haven.

And, of course, Robert Dyas has some suggestions…

Just because you work from home, there’s no need to lose the feel of a classic office. A timeless desk unit such as the Graceford Ready Assembled 3-Drawer Oak Computer Table (£319.99) (Online only) will create a solid base from which to revolve your working hours around.

Why not add authority and invest in a winged-back leather chair like the Chairman’s Swivel Chair (£299.99)? Made of Italian leather and with a choice of three colours (green, black or burgundy) these will suit any palette without compromising on comfort, due to its fully adjustable features.

For classic illumination, try the Village at Home Sven Desk Lamp (£19.99) (Online only). It’s clean lines and vintage aesthetic will fit into any traditional home office, whilst providing a bright and clear light to work from.

Electrical goods and technology form the backbone of an office, so it’s crucial that you have the right equipment to keep your finger on the pulse, wherever you are situated.

For those who like a clean and minimalist approach to their office, The Brother DCP-1612W Compact Wireless All-In-One Mono Laser Printer (£129.99) (Online only) allows you to print, copy and scan without the need for cables.

If however you prefer to have your connections where you can see them, the Robert Dyas full range of extension leads and cableswill ensure you are plugged-in and ready to go 24/7.

Never forget the importance of backing up! Data storage and USBswill not only keep your work safe but ensure peace of mind once your day is accomplished.
