London City Selection’s zombie-themed FAM trip is a thriller for agents

The City of London venue consortium, London City Selection (LCS), hosted 16 brave booking agents for a battle of survival over 6-7 March for their 12th annual agency FAM trip.

A select number of buyers were picked from top UK agencies to attend the event, dubbed LCS vs Zombies. Vying for the most points, agents were split into five teams and given a day full of challenges to determine who would triumph under-threat of a zombie apocalypse.

Christina Warren, lead organiser for the 2020 FAM Trip said: “We absolutely loved the enthusiasm from our buyers and venues over the weekend. The annual FAM trip is not only highly anticipated by guests, but the venues, hotels and suppliers who all play a role in making the weekend possible too.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication everyone put into this event this year and seeing our member venues and hotels brought to life in such a unique way is really quite something!”

After a drinks reception and exhibition on Friday night at Butchers Hall, buyers gathered the next morning for breakfast at the Museum of London.

Challenges were located across a number of LCS member venues and hotels. Competing teams spent the morning dashing between the HAC, Barbican Centre, the Institute of Structural engineers and Trinity House. They were subjected to high-stakes trials including choreographing a music video to MJ’s Thriller and moulding a convincing zombie brain out of play-doh.

After a lunchtime pit-stop at Thistle City Barbican Hotel, the battling agents hit the streets once more to try and secure their place at the top of the scoreboard. Zipping between venues 58VE, Farmers and Fletchers in the City, Crowne Plaza Kings Cross and Crowne Plaza London City the winning team was announced at The Barbican Centre.

Naheeda Rujudawa from Capita Travel and Events said: “I was delighted at the opportunity to take part in this weekend and from start to finish it did not disappoint. Getting to visit several of LCS’s member venues and having fun in-between was a great mix and I found the weekend to be beneficial for both me and my colleague Olivia.”

Corinna Latter from RSVP Venues said: “I had a scream at the LCS vs Zombies FAM Trip, it was a weekend I don’t think I’ll ever forget. There’s a danger venues start to blend into one another seeing so many in a short space of time, but the activities were a great way to experience each one in a memorable way.”

“It was really well organised; we were all totally immersed zombie theme and got to see venues we didn’t even realise were in the City of London.”
