Lord’s Events announces new Warner Stand event space

The new Warner Stand at Lord's Cricket Ground

MCC, owners of Lord’s Cricket Ground, today announces booking availability for the brand new contemporary dining experience and events space due to open in May this year.

Situated within the newly-built £25.6m Warner Stand in the Pavilion end of the ground and named Pelham’s, the highly flexible space has a capacity for 136 seated, 165 standing and 150 theatre-style. Bookings are already being taken for both private and corporate events, receptions, lunches, wedding breakfasts and dinners.

The events space, which offers stunning views overlooking the hallowed turf, is part of the two-year Warner Stand redevelopment project, which began in September 2015. The new multi-purpose events and dining space benefits from the Warner Stand’s unique semi-translucent roof, supported by oak beams and the first of its kind in the country. This means guests of both Pelham’s and the stand’s tiered seating will enjoy maximum light while being protected from the sun.

As part of Lord’s commitment to sustainability, the space includes photovoltaic roof panels for electricity generation and is now the first cricket ground in the country to run on 100% renewable energy. Other eco-friendly features for the project include a state-of-the-art rainwater collection and recycling system, ground-source heat pumps for heating water and enhanced waste-sorting and storage facilities to reduce the need to collect waste during a match day.

Named after renowned test cricketer Sir Pelham Francis Warner, the space has been designed with a contemporary feel and offers year-round availability for a range of events from breakfast meetings, corporate dinners and receptions to private lunches and weddings. The events team at Lord’s also plans to offer ticketed Sunday lunch sessions on selected dates throughout the year.

To coincide with the opening of the new Warner Stand and events space, Lord’s Events has created a range of new corporate packages including for breakfast meetings and drinks receptions, with prices starting at £55+VAT per person.

Nick Kenton, Head of Sales for Meetings, Events and Hospitality at MCC comments: “We are delighted to be able to offer this brand-new events space and contemporary dining experience for 2017, offering more flexibility to both our corporate and private guests. The new Pelham’s venue is a multi-purpose room which can be used for all sorts of occasions as well as for members on certain match days.

“We have expanded the Lord’s events offering considerably by being able to offer this new space, which is flooded with natural light and offers spectacular views across the Ground. At the same time, sustainability has been at the top of our minds as we look to the future and the new Warner Stand has been built with renewable materials and eco-friendly features. We are really looking forward to welcoming our first guests to Pelham’s in May 2017,” he adds.

The reconstruction of the new two-tiered Warner Stand will include 2656 shaded seats from which to watch the cricket action. As well as Pelham’s, the stand will provide food outlets, bars and the relocation of the Champagne Bar from the Coronation Garden.
