Naming Monsters

Naming Monsters โ€“ Hannah Eaton

(Myriad Editions, ยฃ12.99)

Naming Monsters is a very different and interesting book with a story being told not just by words but by images too. The main character is a young girl who lives with her grandmother, and it follows her journey of teenage life via boys, exams and friendships. Interspersed are old folk tales of monsters from various countries.

It has been cleverly written and the pictures are amazing. You have to look carefully at what they depict as they tell as much of the story as the words. I felt confused as to what the book was trying to achieve at first but, once finished, I realised itโ€™s just a different way of writing. Well worth a read.
