Cookery School at Little Portland Street

Cookery School at Little Portland Street is London’s most sustainable cooking school and teaches guests to cook good food with confidence. The school offers classes, courses and corporate events from beginner to advanced level in a professional kitchen. Demystifying cooking, removing jargon and bringing back good home cooking skills is their forte; no wonder, then, it was named winner of ‘The Best City Cookery School 2013’, were runners-up for ‘Most Sustainable Cookery School 2014’ and are the only London cookery school awarded the maximum three stars for sustainability from the SRA.

The vast calendar of classes on offer makes it hard to choose just one. Every genre is available, whatever your preference. From kneading and stretching your way to the perfect loaf to whipping up a classic Sunday roast, helping you choose, prepare and cook a variety of organic cuts, knife skills, winter comfort foods, fish, chocolate, gluten free, and rather apt, given the time of year โ€“ a class for Christmas.

Back in October, PA Life Club members were invited to partake in โ€˜A Christmas Rehearsal: The Ultimate Christmas Dinner.โ€™ The group was split into three teams of four and each team was designated to create the starter, main and dessert. The evening showcased how to time your Christmas meal to perfection with the schoolโ€™s โ€˜to-doโ€™ list and pre-Christmas lunch timetable. For each course, the chef demonstrated how to make each dish and then each team followed suit.

Everything came together wonderfully. All dishes were completed on time and the group enjoyed the fruits of their labour together around the dinner table. If youโ€™re looking for a team-building event with heart, this is the one.

Testimonials
โ€œI thought the event was a great success. It incorporated learning to cook a meal from scratch, team bonding and working as a team to produce the actual dishes. The interaction with the chef was also great, as we learned things in a different way than we would normally do at home. The masterpiece was sitting down together and tasting the meal โ€“ a perfect end to a perfect evening.โ€ Brenda George

โ€œThe Cookery School is a culinary experience that is perfectly pitched to assist you in your search for corporate team building or events. They were very welcoming, and the delicious smell of freshly prepared mulled wine floated up the stairs and into the street upon our arrival. The chef and his team are friendly, patient and keen to pass on their love of good food and cooking. All the prep work is done for you, meaning you can concentrate on the interesting bits, and get to know your fellow cooks. The event culminates in feasting on your hard work, and recipes are shared throughout the event and available to take home afterwards.โ€ Abigail Jones
