PA Life readers reveal if they would get flirty for a pay rise

What would you be willing to do for some extra cash this Christmas? Would you be willing to flirt with your boss if it led to a raise or a bonus? If you’re one of our readers, you may be pleased to know that you’re among good sort, here.

A recent twitter poll asked our readers if they’d be willing to flirt with the management to get a pay rise, and it was a resounding no. 83% of respondents – an overwhelming majority and one of the largest majorities in our twitter history – were adamant that they wouldn’t flirt for a pay boost. Nobody gave a straight ‘yes,’ although some were willing to make an exception under the right circumstances.

More than one in 10 admitted they would consider getting suggestive if the right amount of money was on the table, and 4% even said they’d think about it if their boss met their standards. Of course the poll was all in good humour and a number of our audience have actually met their significant others in the office and nearly one in three engaging in an office romance. Because of these statistics, not all of our readers trust the validity of the poll results.

The poll comes following news that a staggering 40% of men have admitted to flirting for better pay, while around one in five women agree. Specialists are concerned that the results could be reflective of a lack of confidence in female workers, as their male equivalents were found to be almost twice as likely to fight dirty for a pay rise.
