Penelope Alice visits Staycity’s Oscar Wilde-inspired apartments

Serviced apartments are fast becoming a key service for PAs, as more travellers seek a home-from-home experience.

With this in mind, it was fabulous to visit the Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity at The Strand, London, Thursday evening. Some PA Life Club members and I were shown around three separate rooms including a Wilde Studio, Wilde Double Room and a Wilde Superior Studio.

Each room offers different commodities, from a mini kitchenette and dining area, to a traditional hotel style room with a double bed, shower room and storage space.

The beauty of staying here means guests have the option of cooking for themselves, or they can order room service – Staycity has partnered with some restaurants on The Strand who can offer breakfast and dinner. You really can feel at home here.

But what struck me was how quiet each room was. Considering the hustle and bustle of the street below, where red busses and black cabs zoom by, inside you couldn’t hear a pin drop.

Staycity has also stayed true to its roots as an Irish firm and has teamed up with Irish companies as part of its mini bar offering, while the signature colour green has been incorporated into each rooms’ aesthetics.

Plus, each room also pays homage to the poet and playwright, Oscar Wilde, who the apartments have been named after. Books written by Wilde litter the walls, while his spirit has also inspired the flamboyant décor.

After our show around we were taken to the Smith & Wollensky restaurant, (this is where guests can find themselves enjoying breakfast during a stay) for some delicious canapés. The satay chicken was a particular favourite.

To round off the evening, Staycity held a raffle where we got the chance to enter to win a bottle of champagne, a night stay at the Greenwich apartments and tickets to the Cutty Sark and a two night stay at The Strand apartments and tickets to see an Oscar Wilde show.

Congratulations to the winners, Christine Harris, Gem Simpsom and Suzanne Roberts!

Thank you to Staycity for hosting such a fantastic evening!
