Premier League footballer Jermain Defoe seeks PA

Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is perpetuating the belief that pampered footballers are incapable of taking care of themselves. The Daily Mail reports that he’s seeking an ‘executive personal assistant’ whose tasks will include, among other things, choosing his clothes, paying his bills and making sure his fridge is well-stocked.

The former Spurs player, who earns about £60,000 a week, is offering £50,000-£60,000 a year for an assistant to help him and his family. Some of the errands included in the job description include:

Organise Jermain’s personal needs, ie drycleaners, gardeners, house refurbishments, sourcing interior designers and every day tasks.
Regularly check the house when Jermain is away, making sure all is in place for his return, ie fridge is stocked, plants watered and the house clean.
Select and organise his wardrobe with specific designers for special events and appearances, ie Oswald Boateng, Harrods, ZAP etc.

The successful candidate will be responsible for booking all of the player’s social events, including theatre visits, concerts, nights at the cinema, restaurants, spas and family outings.

Those interested in the position must be willing to carry out a variety of ‘chores’ and need to be available 24/7. Applicants should also “demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality and be very flexible, hands-on and capable of multitasking.”

The application includes a questionnaire asking whether the candidate is comfortable working with high net worth individuals. The player’s PA will also need to be proficient in social media, as he requires someone who can help him “create a global brand for the Jermain Defoe name”.
