Security and speed in printing

Office printing is often a topic of heated discussion in the workplace. Giving employees the freedom to print anything, any time, can become costly and risky, as accidental data leaks are more likely to happen with increased printing. More offices are looking for ways to cut back on these factors while maintaining a high level of productivity among employees.

Brother has introduced a range of products that provide just such a solution. It recently launched B-Guard, a print management software tool that allows businesses to set up a system of safeguards to secure information.

The professional package includes features such as pull printing, which requires employees to enter a PIN on the device in order to retrieve their documents, and scan direct, which allows users to send scanned items directly to their email address.

Employers can also use Mail2Print, enabling the administrator to monitor printing from email-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets. In addition, administrators can restrict access to certain devices to particular users (for example enabling a person to print in black and white only).

On the other hand, Brother understands how important it is to keep productivity up and having employees standing around waiting for documents to print doesn’t help. Its high-speed colour printers produce 22 pages a minute and support a range of connectivity options, including wireless, a direct USB connection, or web-based applications such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.

To cut down on costs and reduce the impact on the environment, the machines also feature automatic two-sided printing and scanning, a lower power consumption and high yield colour cartridges, which offer more pages per cartridge.
