Support role recruitment rises across the UK

Thereโ€™s good news for administrative professionals, with research showing that secretarial and support vacancies increased by 25% between the first three months of 2013 and the start of this year. The rise in jobs was most noticeable in the Midlands and London, but numbers are up across the whole of the UK.

The results were drawn from the European Jobs Index, a research tool created by specialist recruiter Robert Walters that tracks vacancy levels advertised on job boards. The report shows that quarterly opportunities also rose by nearly 16%.

Employers in the Midlands generated the largest spike in recruitment for such roles, with annual volumes increasing by 37%. Meanwhile, London generated a 23% growth and the North West climbed by 2%.

In total, more new jobs were created in this field than in retail, marketing, or human resources, where recruitment figures fell by as much as 15%.
