Sustainable Events Summit comes to International Confex

The Sustainable Events Summit will run a session at International Confex

Organisers of the internationally acclaimed Sustainable Events Summit will be leading on a special session reflecting some of the recent findings from the summit at International Confex this year. The session will take place as part of the conference programme at the exhibition, which will see the biggest global gathering of event professionals in the UK.

Last year the summit presented findings of a major piece of research that highlighted the โ€˜knowledge gapโ€™ between what the industry is doing against what it still needs to do within event sustainability. The session at International Confex will include an update on the global campaign, telling the story of the power of events during the United Nations Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The event will also include some of the leading voices on sustainability within the industry, including Rachel Ley, Managing Director of event management company RLC; Emma Owens, Partnership Manager for Sustainable Events Ltd; Mark Scales, Head of Event Solutions at Banks Sadler; and Carol Primett, Events Manager at Anglican Water Services.

โ€œFor the past four years, the Sustainable Events Summits (SES) have brought together corporate brands, agencies, venues and suppliers to discuss ideas, thinking and practices with the aim of encouraging real action in the industry,โ€ commented Rick Stainton, Sustainable Events Summit. โ€œWeโ€™re keen to continue the conversation within the industry at International Confex, and are delighted to have this forum; it should be a really interesting discussion.โ€

โ€œConfex visitors really care about sustainability within the industry and have shown a massive appetite in looking at ways to improve the industry in this area,โ€œ comments Liz Agostini, Event Director of Confex. โ€œThis is a really important part of our content at the show and just adds to the huge variety of topics being addressed this year.โ€
