How does your event booking benefit the community of Birmingham?
We host a huge variety of events across our 25 amazing event spaces, offering event organisers a blank canvas to create something spectacular for their conferences, gala dinners, exhibitions, music events and more. Whilst it sounds quite straightforward there are some interesting challenges for us to be able to successfully deliver events, at the same time as not impacting on the core purposes of the buildings.ย ย
For example, by day the Book Rotunda is part of a functioning public library, but by evening, it can be transformed into a venue for a glittering drinks reception and awards dinner for 180 guests. And, by the next morning, it is returned to its daily library use.ย
Similarly, at the Rep, we work around the requirements of the theatre, selling the House or Studio for dates when they are โbetween showsโ or accommodating events in and around the sets and backdrops of the stage. This unique combination of uses allows us to offer some unusual settings for memorable events, such as private dining on the stage, building a glass squash court on the stage, or incorporating behind the scenes tours and theatre workshop teambuilding events.ย ย
Doing things differently
Our commercial teams manage a range of dates, times and procedures that all need to be considered at the point of enquiry for each event. This could be linked to start/finish times or access to the venue and in some cases can present some challenges to deliver and ensure no conflicts to the ethos of the buildings. Although, thinking outside the box is something our events team are particularly good at. We will work with you to create a spectacular event that is anything but ordinary because ‘bespoke is our middle name’!ย
