PA Life talks to Free Spirit, a luxury wellness brand, about their fresh approach to creating bespoke experiences designed to support physical wellbeing, mental clarity and stronger team performance. The team at Free Spirit is well positioned to impress executives and busy teams with their expert practitioners in yoga, fitness, breathwork and mindset alongside increasingly important immersive event styling…
Our editor was treated to a taster session to learn how Free Spirit delivers refined, multi-sensory wellbeing programmes for corporate professionals and private clients alike.
Lois Burton from Free Spirit explains their philosophy: Most of us are free spirits at heart, even if the modern workplace rarely leaves room for it. Between strategy meetings, quarterly reports, spreadsheets and endless emails, that instinct for freedom can quickly become stifled. Free Spirit exists to redress that balance, creating space for creativity, perspective and genuine connection within the working day.
Bringing balance to the workplace boosts productivity and retention too
Designed with both employers and employees in mind, Free Spiritโs workshops aim to boost motivation, strengthen team relationships and support workplace wellbeing. Each bespoke session is carefully curated to help teams reconnect and return to work feeling more energised, focused and engaged – outcomes that often translate directly into improved productivity, stronger collaboration and greater staff retention.
The brand was founded by Charlotte Penniceard and Jess Esposito, who first met in 2006 at an outdoor military workout class. Over the past two decades, the pair have built successful careers in the events and photography industries respectively, frequently collaborating along the way. Charlotte runs the catering and events company Penniblack, while Jess leads the creative photography studio: studio68b. Their combined expertise in crafting memorable events – together with a shared interest in wellbeing – naturally led to the creation of Free Spirit.
The concept grew from a simple idea: bringing meaningful wellness experiences into the workplace
In an environment often defined by deadlines and digital overload, Charlotte and Jess wanted to offer something immersive, uplifting and genuinely enjoyable – the kind of experience that allows teams to step back, gain perspective and return to work with renewed clarity.
What does a day with Free Spirit look like?
Thatโs entirely up to you. Each programme is bespoke, allowing clients to mix and match workshops in a location of their choice. Whether transforming an office into a calming retreat, sourcing the perfect venue for a company away-day, or hosting an event at a country house, the Free Spirit team curates the right specialists to suit the setting.
Workshops span a wide range of disciplines, from Movement, Mind and Performance to Food, Drink and Functional Nutrition, Complete Wellness, Creativity and even Self-Defence. Every programme follows a sensory-led approach, with locations, sessions and menus thoughtfully designed to engage the five senses and create an atmosphere that encourages clarity, calm and connection. By stepping outside the usual workplace environment, teams often find themselves thinking more creatively, communicating more openly and returning to their roles with renewed focus.
Food and drink are central to the Free Spirit offering
The brandโs vibrant menus are designed to boost energy, support performance and provide nourishing dishes suited to every setting – from elegant standing buffets and relaxed sharing-bowl dining to outdoor feasts and campfire-style gatherings. Guided by Ayurvedic principles and modern nutritional science, dishes incorporate the three doshas: Vata for grounding and focus, Pitta for cooling and calm, and Kapha for sustained energy – helping teams avoid the familiar mid-afternoon slump.
A curated drinks menu complements the experience, replacing the typical work-party bar with functional tonics, botanical infusions and performance-focused hydration stations. Signature drinks align the elements with key needs: Earth for grounding and nervous system support, Fire for natural energy and drive, Air for hydration and mental clarity, and Ether for digestive balance and reset – all designed to help guests maintain steady energy and focus throughout the day.
Free Spirit canโt promise that guests will leave reborn as rockstars, adventurers or artists. What it can promise is the opportunity to pause, reconnect and return to work feeling lighter, clearer and more aligned. In other words, the chance – even if only for a day – to be exactly that: a free spirit.
