Are you looking for a new job? You should be…

Top opportunity for job hunters

Job hunters will be overwhelmed with opportunities, according to CV Library, which revealed that that this is expected to be the busiest time for job hunters and the ideal way to. With that in mind, the recruitment specialist has come up with their top tips to get ahead of the curve when applying to jobs this month.

Change your search
Stop searching for the same terms and positions over and over, refine and reassess your search. It’s far too easy to keep looking at the same search results without thinking about changing what you look for. Think about where you want to look, add a location or a pay expectation or an industry-specific term; the result may surprise you…

Give your CV a makeover
Re-target your CV for the job you want, show why you deserve the job over everyone else. Be brutal and cut that application down to just the information that matters, as recruiters won’t always be interested in the extra-curricular activities you did at 15. Expand on what your current job position is, and update it if the nature of the position has changed over time.

Upload your CV to job boards
Uploading your CV to job searching sites like CV Library, Indeed or Reed puts your CV into a database that can be accessed by recruiters and employers, meaning you can be headhunted by eager management.

Stay alert
Use job alerts to get suggestions sent directly to your email address. Most recruitment sites will offer you the opportunity to get alerts when the site picks up on keywords or job roles similar to those you’ve previously applied to. Searching anything from your location to a string of keywords, setting up job alerts or even Google alerts for job sites you frequent could put you ahead of the competition with your CV at the front of the queue.
